Cheers . I think my son-in-law will like it too.
Never been a G-Shock fan but have to say it's pretty cool.

Why not collect what YOU like, rather than simply collect what is deemed to be desirable by general opinion?
If you did the latter you would buy Rolex wink

Not bought a decent watch in a long time so decided to treat myself to something a bit unusual:

It's a MRG-G1000B-1A4DR.

This is a box made from bamboo which is designed for keeping ties rolled up in. But it works great for my g-shocks. I have two and I’ve just filled the first one.

What's the model on the bottom right? It's very nice.

My son's G-Shock will need it's battery replacing soon I should think - where's best to get this done? I assume it's not a specialist thing?

That's from the Blackout series and its the same as the one in WhisperingWasp's post, above. Except his has the PVC strap and mine has the NATO style/cloth strap.

Not expensive either.

Saw this further up in the thread, and seriously contemplating it, really like the look. Never had a G-shock before, so can someone tell me why this particular model is so expensive in comparassion to the other £60-£90 models I've seen here?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XD2WTJG/ref=asc_df_...

The only other things tickling my fancy are these two:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-G-Shock-Mens-Watch-...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-G-100-1BVMUR-G-Shoc...

I have a half baked plan of spending a few months in Africa soon, bashing around in a 4x4 so fancy something bashable. I like the idea of leather or cloth straps so the first one for so cheap seems ideal, though a little sparse on functions?

I mean for the price of the first one, I can get both of the others and a few beers, but it just looks so damn good...

Oh, I also really like this one, thoughts? https://www.casio.com/products/archive/watches/g-s...

edit: any info on how well the supplied leather straps hold up to getting wet, showered etc also appreciated!

Not sure if others have found this.

I was after a G-Shock I could wear in the gym or when out running so bought a GBA800 in an almost fluorescent yellow. Display looked really good a readable on the website.

But when I got the watch the display was so dim that in anything other than direct sunlight it was almost unreadable - even with my reading glasses !
More like the image below. Casio were great an refunded the money immediately.

Mine's a bit battered but it's been on my wrist daily since 2011. It's survived a couple of Afghan tours along with numerous other dodgy trips and never missed a beat.

I've yet to find one I like better

That's the case with most negative displays, some are better than others but most are difficult to read quickly and easily.

Thanks for that - you live and learn ! Just surprised me the as the two pictures look completely different - but the second is absolutely reality.

Multi band 6 = receives a daily signal from one of six radio transmitters (if you're within range) to ensure accuracy.
Tough Solar = capacitor recharged by light, so no changing batteries for 10-20 years (but will still need a capacitor change in time).
