Saw this further up in the thread, and seriously contemplating it, really like the look. Never had a G-shock before, so can someone tell me why this particular model is so expensive in comparassion to the other £60-£90 models I've seen here?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XD2WTJG/ref=asc_df_...

The only other things tickling my fancy are these two:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-G-Shock-Mens-Watch-...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-G-100-1BVMUR-G-Shoc...

I have a half baked plan of spending a few months in Africa soon, bashing around in a 4x4 so fancy something bashable. I like the idea of leather or cloth straps so the first one for so cheap seems ideal, though a little sparse on functions?

I mean for the price of the first one, I can get both of the others and a few beers, but it just looks so damn good...

Oh, I also really like this one, thoughts? https://www.casio.com/products/archive/watches/g-s...

edit: any info on how well the supplied leather straps hold up to getting wet, showered etc also appreciated!

Multi band 6 = receives a daily signal from one of six radio transmitters (if you're within range) to ensure accuracy.
Tough Solar = capacitor recharged by light, so no changing batteries for 10-20 years (but will still need a capacitor change in time).
Also, if it full toughness you're after, I'd go with a rubber strap. They are very comfortable and very freakin' tough.

Put it this way, if you really, properly, damage a G shock whilst it's on your wrist, the watch will be the least of your worries hehe

I had one of these when they came out originally. They are better quality than the 60-90gbp gshocks (although the rubber/silicone strap was horrible, nothing like the softer strap you get on certain models like GW-7900 for example). The only real issue for me was the size, it is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.

Where's a good place to get genuine replacement straps? Can't find them on the G-Shock site (seems like something they should do...).

Haven't worn a watch in years but for some reason have decided that I'd quite like one now.

Is there a model similar to the GBA-800-1A functionality, but the look of the DW-5600BBN?

There's something about the simplicity of the 5600 that I find quite appealing.

EDIT: Also, is the NATO strap ok to get wet? Or better off with a resin type strap? Definitely prefer the NATO strap.

Answered my own question about the strap with the help of Google but surely there are some G Shock aficionados on here that can help me out with the other question?

Bought a couple from TikTox, if in stock a quick turn around.
GR8900 bezel and strap £23, GT9110 £39 for the same.First order took 2 weeks, I emailed them and got a reply, the second order the following day was here 2 days later with nigh on immediate confirmation. Good place for bits.

Sadly my 8900 started playing up so had to have the back off. Found that the illumination contact was buggered internally and had to remove it as it locked the watch from working. However I figured how to switch the auto illuminate function on with a small screwdriver and then re assemble it, so now I have the light come on for 3 seconds when I lift my arm. Phew, was almost thinking of getting another. Hmmm, perhaps I need another backup....

Anything coming in on the G shock front, I fancy a gulfmaster in blue, sold edifice and a mudmaster last week so need to keep my eye out.

Well I sold my GX56 in the end. Having lost 50kg in the last few years I just felt it looked silly on my new svelte wrists and was not getting worn. It sold on ebay for more than I paid for it to a collector who had his stolen and was over the moon about finding another one, so I was left feeling like I had made the right decision.

My trusty GA100 continues to perform swimming/garage/cycling/park with the kids duties and I can't see anything replacing it. I love the DW5600 - BB and slash black, but can't really justify £100 on a watch for exactly the same duties as a current one.

However....I have a penchant for collecting weird collab stuff, and a couple of years ago I picked up this skateboard deck (after hunting for one for 18 months):

Then I was constantly scouring the web for the matching watch. Not exactly rare but finding one that hasn't faded or been worn extensively was rather more challenging. Persistance paid off in the end though and I found a mint in box one for a decent price... so I'm back up to 2 g shocks again laugh

Anyone got one of these?

Never had a G-shock, but I love the look of it and the compass functionality. Found it for £145 too.

It's good - been to some pretty remote location on earth with me.....and still told the time!

Gets regular wear - in fact, at such good value (compared to the mudmaster) I plan to add another colour!

Ordered a DW5600 to start my collection (and upgrade from my F91W), only problem is I ordered from Creation Watches so probably going to take a month to arrive...

Haha excellent.

I doubt I'll need the feature, but the price it was (it arrives today) and the compass feature will be handy.

My other watches are all quite tame in look so this will be a nice change!
