Snap. Managed to get one online in the 3 min before it sold out. Haven't had a G shock in 20 years, nice to have one on the wrist again.
Cool watch, love the light blue on black colouring

Hi halfpenny,

Just wondering if you would mind giving a long term update/mini review on the gbd h1000?

I'm considering getting one but I'm just wondering if they have made any improvements via software updates or if there is anything major I should be aware of before purchasing?

Thanks in advance.
Hello - I'll do my best. . . . . .
Summary is - for a specific outdoor cardio tracking (running, cycling, skating etc) watch I really like it and it serves the purpose well. Where it misses is on tracking more static / strength / gym based activities. On a treadmill it can monitor your heart rate and step count but for some reason not your distance run (for example).

I have 16.5cm wrists and find it comfortable to run with. It stays in position well and you can configure it to bleep and vibrate at various intervals (I have it set to 1km intervals). I have disabled the heart rate vibrating and alerting when you exceed your max heart rate.

Some people have complained that the GPS takes a long time to lock. I have not experienced this at least I don't find 2-3 mins to obtain a lock long. I did my first few runs with the watch and my iPhone using the "MapMyRun" app, and found them pretty close to each other.

The watch is so easy to read - even with my rubbish 50 year old eyes I can read the dial without my glasses. The main time display is super crisp as are all the displays to be honest.

You can configure the watch faces either on the watch or through the app - I use the app as I find it easier to read.
When your running you can configure the screen to show all sorts of measures - the screen is divided into 3 with the top and bottom 3rds being smaller and the middle data more prominent. I think I have my main running screen to show heart rate on top, average time per km on the bottom and the distance run in the middle. But like I say it is completely configurable.

The app is ok. Not as intuitive as the Garmin app for example - but gives you lots of data. Distance, inclination +/-, max / min heart rate and time sustained, distance, steps, VO2 max, recovery time etc etc etc. It also stores your run as a map - and allows you to set a run route in advance.

I find that the watch and my iPhone X don't sync well together. I have to manually select connect from the watch and then connect via the bluetooth menu on the phone.

Otherwise as I say - it's a great runners watch - I use it almost everyday. I go to the gym on a Saturday and wear it there but have to manually update my entries on my exercise tracking app. I charged it on the USB plug when I bought it and again last week. Battery is monumental.

1 update to the app - no updates for the watch.

Hope that helped - but feel free to ask anything. If you want some screenshots of anything I can do that too.

Thanks so much for the detailed update. It really is appreciated. It sounds like it would meet my needs which is to track outdoor runs, steps per day and HR. As long as Casio don't abandon it 2 year down the line I'm terms of updates.

Just need to hope it isn't too big for my wrists lol

I've just had a fresh update on mine, and although its a big watch its not heavy and is really comfortable to wear smile Definitely give it another recommendation

Good to hear. Did the update provide any new features/fix any flaws?

Haven't noticed any difference so far! But have been working so not really played with it, just pleased that they seem to be continually working on it

It has blue bits and Bamford written on it. wink

Other than that just a G Shock 5600. 150 quid so can't complain.

Finally got my order in of the GA-2100-1A1ER

https://g-shock.co.uk/ga-2100-1a1er

Saw the alert saying it was back in stock and managed to get it a few minutes after. Every other time I've missed it even 10 minutes after. However looking now it shows its still sitting in stock.

Picked up my first G Shock, a GA140. Big fan of the negative display. Can definitely see myself buying more!

Just got the new RAF limited edition GR-B200RAF-8ER today. I wasn’t sure about it at first but I got a healthy military discount so took a punt and I’m pleased to say it looks great in the flesh with great functionality. Whether I’ll actually wear it when I go flying is up for debate though, which is slightly ironic biggrin

After my first G-Shock, I quite like this model but a bit disappointed it's only a basic watch wrapped in a nice metal case, I would have liked the solar charging feature but seems you can only get this with a full metal square, anyone got any suggestions, I like the metal case and green strap.

Alternative would be M5610 and swap the strap for a green one but I would lose the metal case, I really don't want to spend more than £150 for a beater

After you apply the 25% discount its cheaper over at the watch shop but I've gone for a GW-M5610-1ER instead as it has all the features I wanted, I pick it up tomorrow and only cost £79 from Argos on sale.

I also found out that you can get a metal case mod from Aliexpress for about £20 which il probably try out.

Cheers.

You can easily add a G-Shock branded aftermarket metal bezel to most G-Shocks for 20 quid. See my post on page 265 of this thread.

Picked up my 5610 today, impressed with the quality of this little watch and its packed with lots of features, I think I'm going to swap out the strap for a Nato and find a black metal case.

OK so not *exactly* a G-Shock, but a close relative.

I'm guessing if anyone can, you guys can.

I'm trying to find one of these.

Casio Pro Trek PRW-60Y-1A

They're Japanese Domestic market, so a bit hard to find.

I've had a good look, but not really seen anywhere that I'd feel comfortable spending that kind of money on an unknown selling site.

Anyone know anywhere that's trustworthy with one actually in stock ?
