I think I'm a bit of a G-Shockaholic now. I've overlooked digitals for years, ended up back on the case last year. Always considered G-Shock as gaudy, massive watches that serve a purpose but aesthetically did little for me. Trouble is, the more watch Youtube videos and read threads the more intriguing different styles become. So here's my recently acquired batch.

My inner 10 year old loves this one.

If I had to pick one watch to wear purely based on it's comfort, functionality and quality it has to be this. Hugely impressed with the MIP display and overall looks of this one.

I couldn't decide so got both. Sometimes I like the chosen by a 10yr old look of the neon and sometimes I revert to type and like the plain black.

My inner child loves the neon of that one too! That said I get funny looks off the missus for my excitement over some of my more unique looking watches haha

Hi everyone,

I've popped into this thread from time to time when I've seen it on the What's New list.

I own three TW Steel watches but in advance of the first holiday abroad with kids coming up, I'm thinking of getting myself a G-Shock - something more pool friendly to keep an eye on nap/eating times etc.

Where do you all buy your watches, direct from G-Shock, Amazon or other sites? I saw Carnaby Street mentioned but that sounds too much for my requirements.

Cheers!

Argos for me. They don't carry a massive range but what they have tends to be well priced.

For digitals then yes Argos is a winner, they stock a decent range of G-Shocks. Also I use Amazon but aim to order from Amazon directly or one of the bigger watch sellers like The Watch Shop.

I ordered a G-Shock last week which had a slightly suspect box, barcode was a sticker over the original on the box. The box was also taped up and the tag had been cut off. It had a hand written label on the back and I suspect it was either a return, used or repaired watch. Came from some seller in Leeds and not Amazon directly. That went back in favour of one from them direct.

As for the purpose you're wanting it, you won't go wrong with a G-Shock or even a cheaper Casio with a good water resistance.

I'm a fan of the old/new squares, but pretty much anything goes.

I also have a casioak, but very rarely wear it.

If you want to be able to read the time, avoid the inverted displays. smile

The two classics for me are the original square and the 6900 series.

I also love the gd-400 range but they dont get that much love from others.

Thank you both for your answers. Great that we are all different and you guys have different collections.

Have a couple of nice time pieces and wanted a nice G-shock that would look great.

Passed through Istanbul airport last night and they had a large G-shock stand.
Did fancy a clear or white watch but then just looking on uk website spotted the poison dart one.

Not sure what it looks like in real life mind. Just wanted something different

Thanks to you and others for your answers. Whilst I like the look of the watches posted by Miles and Lord Grover on this page, I've gone and ordered a GA-2000 in blue from Argos, to pick up tomorrow when in town to see a couple of clients. Handy!

What model is that? I was after a square, and usually don't like the negative diplays, but that's pretty legible. Also how soft is the rubber strap?

It's a GBD-200-UU-1ER.

A catchy name I think you'll agree haha. Legibility is what's impressed me most. I have other negative display watches and you take the form over function as they are no where near as legible as a standard display. This has a MIP display and is really easy to read in low light or direct sunlight as there's no shadow to it. It's like reading white text off a black sheet of paper.

Nice! Now I'm torn between that and a GW-5000U-1...
