I was going to ask the same thing Cyberface. The riseman could be really useful to me if the barometer is anything approaching accurate.
I couldn't say for sure, but I think it's got to be fairly good. The barometer on my Riseman seems to tally with my home weather station pressure readouts and the weather station itself nearly always matches the pressure data I get from Metcheck.

The Altimeter can be accurate if you reset it against altitude markers regularly. If the air pressure changes quickly though, it's going to throw the readings out whatever you do.
Thanks for that. The barometer is the main thing I want as it's useful for fishing - the altimeter would just be to say 'oooh, we are at 1,000m' in the car wink

I quite fancy a DW 6900ms-1. Does anyone know a good place to get one from?

Hey because you posted that picture I've just bought one! It shipped yesterday and should be here today.

(I'm on Holiday in the US at the moment).

I'm not sure if I should thank you for showing me a awesomen G or curse you for making me buy it!

It's just turned up and for me it's the best looking G I've ever owned and I've owned a few of them.

Brilliant!

Well, after taking advantage of the 25% off discount, my vulgar coloured watches have now arrived biggrin

I know they're not going to be to everyone's taste, but I like 'em. Shall mostly be using them for Gym and holidays, so nothing too hard-going.

GLX-5600XA-4CR

Not sure if I'll actually wear this one out much, I just liked the look of it. It looks slightly darker on the website. Nevermind.

DW-5600CS-9ER

The yellow one is probably my favourite out of the 3

GLS-5600V-3ER

I was looking forward to this one, but the strap isn't what I thought it was. It sits a bit high off the rist, very comfortable, though.

And all of them together.

Next on the list is the 6900-1, then I'll be finished for a while!

Just had one of these come through the post today and I love it.

I mainly have vintage watches and I was looking for a watch that I could wear without worrying about damaging it. I started thinking about a Seiko Monster, or SKX007J, but then started looking at G-shocks as I wanted something different to what I'm used to. I like the basic looks and the fact that it has some technology that I have never given much thought to, (atomic timekeeping and solar power). I'm now interested to see how it will perform against my automatics and manuals.
Which model is that? any idea on price

Looks like that one?

Can get 25% off of that price aswell with the voucher code - 041summer2009

That might not still work out the cheapest place to get it, though, but I haven't looked for it on any other sites.

Just had a quick look, cheapest other place I can see is £97.00 with delivery, which is the same as the Casio website with the discount, but the delivery on the Casio website is about £6.50 for standard 5-7 day delivery.

Here's mine. I must have owned it for about 10 years now and whilst I've broken, scratched, damaged my other watches, this has lived on. Mine has some sort of grey coloured coating that has gradually worn away but this just reveals the grey underneath. I remember back when I was at school, in gym class if we hadn't taken our watches of we would be told to put them by the side of the gym hall at the side. Everybody else would walk and put them down and I would take mine off and proceed to throw it the full distance in horror of the teacher, lol. My previous Timex Ironman that claimed to be shock resistant didn't withstand this test as well as the trusty G-Shock.

Anyone remember the G-shock G-Cool. That was the one I really wanted but my parents were too stingy to stump up the extra for one of them. I remember it had databank and world time features and was like a slick and stylish and less bulky version of a G-shock.

I also owned one of the Databank watches which all the cool (nerdy) kids at school had, with the buttons on the front to enter details in.

As far as G-Shock Porn goes the halo model among collectors (ie most sought after) has always been the Frogman in it's various guises, well, introducing the brand new Frogman...

Frogman GWF-1000

Frogman GWF-1000B

Huge spec including 6 band atomic (first for the Frogman line) solar power, tide graph, moon phase etc along with all the normal Frogamn features.

Thing is, you've got the really like G-shocks... the B version is listed with an RRP of 84000yen (At current exchange rates that's around £550!!!! eek )

ps. Really annoyd about that price, I've got two Frogman's and would have loved to add a third, just not at that price frown

Stupid question time:
1/ how does it work out the tide?
2/ is it proper moonphase?
3/ why only 200m?

Quick answer...

1/ fk knows
2/ Apparently yes it is
3/All Frogman models have been "only" 200m, but I guess as they are not full on professional dive computers, more just watches for divers, I guess 200m is pretty deep

Interesting post here on water resistance.....

http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=1591...

It is very long, but pretty interesting. Basically though, don't be suprised if a Frogman, or any other G-shock could be taken down much further than 200m.

Evening gents

I stumbled across this thread yesterday and I now need a G-Shock, but I wondered whether there are any with slightly smaller faces, preferably round too. If they're not too pricey then even better!

TIA
