I just dont get these watch threads. Hundreds of pounds/thousands even, for what. I have an alarm clock in the bedroom, my oven/microwave have clocks. My cars have clocks as does my motorbike. My phone has a clock. The radio tells me the time every 10 bloody minutes.Town clocks are everywhere. The sun is overhead.

WHY>
People like watches. They’re cool little things.

Does that help?

My alarm clock is an alexa so doesn't show the time
My microwave has no clock
The oven clock is always wrong because of power cuts
My van has a clock that is one hour out for half the year since I replaced the stereo
My phone lives in a case in my pocket
The radio isn't always on
I don't live in a town
And its cloudy today.

Oh, I agree with you.
And while we're both at it, what's the point in a car forum to talk about cars, when public transport is available.
I just don't get these car nuts. Hundreds of pounds/thousands even, for what? I have a bus stop half a mile away, the train station is 3/4 of a mile. I own a bicycle. And most of the time I can telephone instead of travelling.

And the internet, come on! What's that all about? What was wrong with fax machines? And could someone please explain what the point of an oven is, when you can buy ready meals and microwave them? Madness.

As for holiday's abroad, well it just seems pointless to me. Haven't people heard of Butlins?

aholes! Just like opinions, everyone seem to have one. I don't understand the need to air your ahole where you know it will be unwelcome.

Tolerance! We don't need that, completely bloody unnecessary. Why would anyone enjoy something that I don't? Or do something that I wouldn't? Utter waste of their effort. Just empty the world of all the frivolous stuff that I don't like, need or understand please.

£50 on a watch? You're all idiots.

I know it'll polarise opinion on the 'cool and stylish' but I still think that for day-to-day wear you can't beat a G-Shock:

That one sneaks in under budget and will be broadly indestructible!

Or this one at a fiver over budget:

Even one of the solar-powered ones for under £50..!

  • not everyone likes the same things, fortunately
  • watches aren't really about telling the time in the same way as cars aren't really about getting simply from A to B
  • why have clothes when bin bags are available... why have restaurant food when you can microwave asda beans... why go outside when you have all you need indoors.... and so on and so on

I ordered a watch off the site on 9th April. Arrived in Glasgow 24th April.
Cheap as chips, off-reservation retro cool and authentic Russian issue - I'm all over these!

I do like the way that looks but with so much going on and the different colours of the hands, I think that one fails at the simple job of telling the time. You can’t do so at a quick glance.

What I find most satisfying about my watch ownership is when I buy and fit a new strap for my Seiko 5. It started life on a black strap, which I changed to a tan strap and I've now ordered an orange strap for it.

Each time it looks and feels like a new watch and gives me great satisfaction.

Sad I know.

And the time of arrest is...

No good unless you can tell the court what time you locked up...

'it was an overcast day so I couldn't tell you the time of arrest'
