There was one of those big wooden box loads parked up just north of Buckden this morning along with its escort - a queue coming to you soon biggrin

Some of those big crates have some distinguishing marks on them, logos from big engineering firms and stuff. always an epic sight IMO! cool

I'd post a few pics of the abnormals i saw on Friday afternoon, but it would Thumbsnap don't wanna play ball tonight...

Yep, I'm liking that too! Proper truck.

I saw an Openfield MP4 Actros yesterday - it even suited orange!

Oh, and here's a picture I took at a John Deere dealer:

I would have loved a good look round as it was a large dealer with a lot of kit in it.

That 730 has become fairly a fairly regular spot for me here now. Properly specced by the looks of and nicely lit with all those Kelsa bars too! cool

Yeah, Openfield (DHL) has had a healthy sized intake of MP4s it would seem, i've seen a couple too. Nidera has acquired a few too which look quite fetching in their blue livery smile
would love to see Frontier acquire a couple of Mercs. Said before they're my fave of the bulk grain/ferti fleets, but it would appear their latest batch of trucks are all DAFs... (smart though!)

Speaking of new Mercs, i saw and photgraphed a couple of nice new ones yesterday.

Dungaits MP4 has to to be the smartest i've yet seen by far! -

Phwoar! smokin

Got a winning pic of one of Ken Mallinsons new Euro 6 units yesterday too smile -

Cheers for posting the pic of the Johnners too! smile

Looks a nice little line up there. Quite a few 8RTs by the looks of cool

That old SG2 cab right on the end looks rather smart also...

Dunno if i posted this one before, but i had the pleasure of this beasty 9630T (Fitted with a 6m wide Simba SLD600 cultivator) a month or so ago. just had to take a few pics! biggrin -

While i've got the folder open i might as well add a few of this brand new shape Quadtrac 550 that was on demo up at the local Case dealer not long ago too! -

Just had my folder open and remembered i had the pleasure of this pass me by last week. 1st one i've seen pass over the bridge here before! biggrin -

Got a Walking Floor attached so its part of the Stobart Biomass fleet. Most likely off to pick up some green waste out in the sticks somewhere!

Also saw this very smart Whitelink Seafoods R480 Topline, all the way from Fraserburgh at the top of Scotland head back north last week also. 1 of only 3 vehicles on the fleet i've been told so a spot i'm quite pleased with smile -

wavey

Yeah that gale caught me by surprise! Its bearable if you don't move about too much, but i spent a bit more time on the box yesterday watching the southbound lane.

A nice even flow of quality stuff yesterday! -

Nice trio of Metcalfe Farms Scanias descending north, each loaded with beasty Mastiff troop transporters bound for MOD Sales out Grantham way IIRC!

Always a nicely turned out fleet Metcalfes. They keep their older wagons in good order, earning their stripes out on the road where they belong!

Bit of a rare Eddie spot. Old skool '08 plate R420 4x2 Topline (08 is miles past its sell by date with Stobarts, but theres still a good 5-6 of these still in service IIRC) with a Mega Chipliner hooked up. I'd imagine the newest batch of MP4 Actros' ESL have just acquired (10 at least up at Widnes waiting to be wrapped) in a very similar spec will force these out of service in time.

This was stunning! P&C Hamiltons fairly new R560 V8 Topline. This fleet runs out of Girvan in Scotalnd and are always a pleasure to see on tour!
This unit had a fantastic livery colour wise, which isn't quite at its full glory in this pic, but the white was a lovely glossy off white/yellow kind of hue which looked fantastic!

H.C Wilsons "European Admiral" (All the trucks in this fleet have macho sounding titles, although i did see their new DAF, simply called Doris, the other week though which was amusing!) heads by with a humongous 100+ ton crusher loaded aboard! biggrin

3 MAN units from Collett Heavy Transport (wind farm and marine machinery haulage specialists) heading south en route to Graveley (Hence the police escort) with seriously hefty turbine blades loaded aboard! nuts

I saw these on Facebook - did you know the convoy was due to pass down the A1 near you or was it by chance it appeared?

It was a pure fluke! I was wondering why all the traffic had stopped on the southbound lane for about 5 minutes and then saw all the flashing lights gradually approach! cool

You know its gonna be something impressive when the BiB are escorting!

I've seen Collett transporting the bases for the turbines just recently too.

I didn't even know work had started at the Graveley site yet either. Its been all over the local news recently. Don't think too many of the yokels in the little villages round there are best pleased!... (I am though i if more movements like this are planned! biggrin )

Crikey, look at the size of those things!!!

I feel we are going to see a lot more loads like this in Cambs, there are so many plans for 400ft+ turbines going on.

As a side issue, years ago I saw the after-effects of one of those rear steer bogies that had decided to do its own thing down near Biggleswade - it had cleared a huge area of verge/hedges/small trees at the side of the road yikes

Wotcher Tony,

Yeah i think there may well be more on the cards, as much as the villagers protest, seeing as there is much more interest in sustainable/renewable energy these days. I sure don't mind seeing the components like the ^^ being transported! biggrin

Those blades had to have been 80-90ft long a piece at a rough guess, pictures don't do them justice TBH!

Two more came down late last week -

Can only imagine what sort of mayhem these cause once they switch over onto the A428 a little further down! yikes

Apparently theres been some damage caused to the kerbs and some road signs at the Buckden roundabout courtesy of an abnormal load with a wide rear swing too...

Just in case Andy has been by this week and wandered why i've been absent, i've had the winter lurgy all week and have pretty much been house bound... Intending to get out ASAP though as the mad Xmas rush will be getting well under way now!...

Good to hear you're on the mend smile I did keep a look out for you today as I was much earlier than normal - bit chilly for hanging about on a windy bridge!

Those blade loads are amazing, what a piece of engineering! Try to pop up to the airfield as I'm sure there must be some good kit up there....

How about this for a big load? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAXzicwhcHI

yikes

There is a rather large crane, but not too much else.

smile

Although it does look good when lit up at night - may even pop over myself.....
