'friendly' MOT testers

I need to get an MOT on my RX8 - which is entered in the road going production classes of the Midland Hill Climb Championships (so need an MOT).

The car has failed as the seat is not on runners (permitted in regs), and is fixed in position for me. Everything else is fine.

Does anyone know any 'friendly' MOT testers who 'understand' these things rather than saying computer says no.

The guys at Bespoke Performance in Ware know their RX8s. They're not an MoT station but they should be able to help. Give Martin a call.

If not just fit a drivers seat with runners

friend of mine was told about a dodgy mot place

went there (or where he thought was there) and they did it for £200. Didn't even see the car.

Turned out he didn't even go to the right place, so it can't be too uncommon.

Happily the DVSA have provided written confirmation that they believe the seat is perfectly acceptable in concept.
