Went to Lussmans in Harpenden over the holiday. Looking forward to going back!

Steak frites was spot on.

I'm a big fan of their St Albans restaurant and have been waiting to hear what the Harpenden one is like before booking. Looks like we'll be paying a visit soon!

Its the first time I've been ; my wife took me as she's been there with her mates and liked it. Gets the thumbs up from me and much needed following the demise of Okka (which has gone down hill massively IMO).

Not too bothered by the fact that a few eateries that I frequent don't have many stars biggrin

I've not been to the Harpenden restaurant, but the service in St.Albans is second to none. Food's pretty good too!

Interesting, Lussmanns opened a branch in Stortford - had heard good things about the other branches so visited twice. First time, not long after opening, the food was dreadful, service very poor, but the Maitre d' very apologetic. So we decided to give it a second chance - only to find it was worse, with the food having clearly been prepared elsewhere and subsequently vacuum packed, and of a very poor standard. The branch subsequently closed.

Very strange, as it would appear the other branches are thriving and receive great reviews.

Three tuns in Ashwell. Only discovered this one recently but the food has been fantastic and very good service too.

The White Hart in Flitton is great for food and just down the road from the Clophill meet. On a par with say Black Horse in Ireland or Hare & Hounds

Second this. Went to Harpenden Lussmans for my birthday last Friday and the atmosphere, food and service was excellent. The pilsner beers are also fantastic.

Our new go-to restaurant in town.

Just been to "That Little Place" bottom of Station Rd Harpenden. They have their own ales, local produce, small simple menu always a good sign of a good place to eat. Excellent fresh cooked food.

Red Lion in Penn - down the road from the Royal Standard, which is also good but pricey due to being in the back gardens of rich people in Beaconsfield smile

Horse and Jockey in Ravensden (near Bedford).

Eaten there a few times, always fantastic food and good beer. Lovely staff as well.

The Crooked Billet in Newton Longville (near Milton Keynes).

Not long had a new management team, one of whom is a Le Mans enthusiast.

Had a very nice lunch there last week, recommended.

Indeed it was!

Think John and Eve are regulars.

There is talk of a RLM meet/night out there at some point I think smile
