Kings head, Ivinghoe. Lunch menu is reasonable price, normally need to book for dinner.

But Neil - that place costs a fortune, or it did when i last looked at the menu when i was considering where to take a lucky lady for Valentines. something like £50 just for one main course !!!!!

Needless to say, we ended up going to The Boot in Soulbury, which, while i am on the subject, is not a bad place for food - more restaurant than pub grub, and the fixed menu is quite limited, but the food and service is,. on the whole, good. They have just started doing Pizzas, and if you get the chef on a good night, they are to die for!
yikes 50 quid for a fillet steak is abit steep! mind you, you do get starter and dessert with that

I'd expect the full cow for that price!! Perhaps Neil is earning far too much money!

Mr Poons in Chalfont St. Giles is a great chinese place. (Think it has live music on a Friday night as well).

Not eaten out in Leighton Buzzard yet but really like the food and the service from the Mandarin Inn (Chinese) on Hockliffe Street. Always very busy though.

Mark,

Both are very good. Service is excellent in both. The only problem with mela is that it doesn't do Biryani

As a recent visitor I can recommend the recently refurbished and under new management Old Mill in Berkhamsted. Not cheap but good service and food. Need to book. My opinion would be that its the new Alford Arms

If you are out for a run the Full Moon PH in Cholesbury is a great venue, good pub fayre with great atmosphere, pretty pub and very pretty location in the Chilterns. A deffo on sunny Sunday afternoon...scratchchin...might have to settle for a Sunday afternoon with this weather.frown

We usually go over to Stony Stratford to the Mogul Palace for Indian, always good food ( or maybe I'm just easily pleased ).

Nicholls in Woburn also seems to hit the spot...

Is that the one in the old church? I always get that one and the other one down the road mixed up!

They are both fairly good though and the one in the church is normally surprisingly empty

Yes, thats the other one. Only been in there for a sunday buffet about 6 months ago but it was good. Was 12 pounds for all you can eat i think.

Agree 100%. I tend to go there instead of the Alford Arms - perhaps less atmosphere, but the food is very good & less expensive than the Alford Arms.

A great Indian 'tapas' restaurant is Papa Joes in Alma Street(Ithink) in Luton - different to the typical Indian restaurant - very busy so book.

Ditto what's been said above about Mr Poons and The Polecat. Also like China Diner in Beaconsfield (although helps knowing the owner!)

Cracking pub grub at The Royal Standard (Forty Green/Beaconsfield) and The Falcon (Wooburn Green)

I'm off to the Carrington Arms tonight so will let you know afterwards what it's like.

I'm currently asking for recommendations on the menu as some of the meats on offer are slightly unusual ! clicky
