This yacht is very similar to the old gaff rigged yawl that I sailed in the 1960's which was "Duet" designed by Linton Hope in 1912 and at the time was (1960's) was loaned to the Ocean Youth Club by Chris Courtauld. I see it's still going and is based in Ipswich and run by the Cirdan Sailing Trust. When built the Yacht carried the name "Gaviota" and when bought by Augustine Courtauld it was renamed "Duet".
indeed, see her quite often when out on the River Orwell! One of the best documentary programs I've found in a while, about the Indian ship breakers. Really good, with plenty of interviews with people from orphans right up to the ship yard owners. Well worth a watch.

Well thats quite mad. Fair play!Just bought an Iowa Class battleship? Unsure of how to operate those pesky 16-inch guns?
Well now, with the help of 78 other people, and this easy to follow training film... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OmOQs0ziSU ...you too can be putting down a very useful 2 rounds per minute per gun.
Amazing to think that these things were first commissioned in 1943, but they were still operating in their original role even into the 1990s... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTetKxtmI9c

RNLI Shannon class lifeboat getting knocked down after going back to sea after a shout as they could not recover to the shore due to the weather. Fantastic boat took it in it's stride, all crew safe.
