Trump rather than RIAT, but three Ospreys (one in heli/rotary mode and two in whatever the word for the other, propellor-style, mode is) and a handful of other helicopters I can’t recognise over Henley Masters Regatta today.

The runway closure on Friday was caused by the Alpha Jet's smoke generator catching fire after landing.

Ahoy fellow Locals.

Does anyone have any view on 'unofficial' viewing spots for this weekend?

As I understand it the Army have fenced off their land at the canal end of the runway to close off that popular viewing area, plus access to the canal towpath is being restricted.

I have previously wandered across to the industrial estate around Government Road/BAe campus where there didn't seem to be any restriction on pedestrians or cyclists. You are just a few yards from the paying punters so should be considered 'safe' by the authorities.

Cody Park is a decent viewing point. Free but gets busy so go prepared. I tend to aim for a view from the high point on Tweseldown (not the race course, the other side of the road), Ceasars Camp I think it is on the map.

In the new post-Shoreham era, I think many (if not all) of the traditional outside viewing points with be 'out-of-bounds' this year, due to CAA regs.

My back garden is pretty good smile

To be honest, anywhere in and around Farnborough town centre will allow you a view of the flying display. You can probably still stand new The Swan Pub on the Farnborough Road or, failing that, stand outside the old town hall on Alexandra Road.

I used to stand near Southwood Golf Club (which is closing soon).

I thought of that the moment I posted my earlier question. Have watched from their car park in previous years as it was just down the road from our office (at the time). To save me swinging past there and having a look has anyone seen if they have erected the outdoor bar in the car park again? (Their website only mentions reserving a table (£60!))

It was fantastic to see.

He’s got close in validation twice (inverted then rolling out) but today he did indeed complete a loop.

Just seen the video of the Hercules, we were a bit confused yesterday as his display was very short (after hearing how amazing the display was).

Any ideas when the AN124 is departing if it's not already departed ?

Government House road is private and have needed pass to get in there previously. Although once you're in the Car park of the Park Centre is reasonable.

Tweseldown Racecourse Tower has been popular recently, Plenty parking and I think they have charged £10. Still a fair distance from the runway though.

Caesars Camp will give an excellent view, albeit from quite a distance - highest point in the area so should give a good "overall" view.

Correct - 4 years ago was the last free access. Miles Hill was favourite but I was asked in no uncertain terms to not remain there in 2016!

Eelmoor Flash was a popular point (although very cramped) last time. (By the bailey bridge).

Where will I be?? If I didn't have access to the Qinetic site (Cody Technology), I would probably cycle through to Eelmoor Flash again.

With a family, I would possibly take some chairs and a coolbox and try Tweseldown Tower. Could be busy though.
