Not sure if it's been mentioned here but The Reds will be landing at FAB on 31 Oct, after a flypast at Twickenham for the RWC final.

The flight path takes them over Trafalgar Sq, Twickernham at 14:45, Windlesham at 14:47 after which they route direct to FAB.

Flightman, is this still the case please? I am hearing now on Facebook that FAB is only the divert airfield if Scampton is N/A

I'm not in the office this week, but the plans were final.

Missed it. I wonder will Farnborough be used more frequently for military flights? It would make a nice change from fairly anonymous biz jets.

I suspect it will only be short term Eric, whilst Brize have problems. Be nice if it was the case.
Sounds like we could still be on for the Reds on Saturday though

I saw them flying over St Peter Port, Guernsey at 5.15ish in a V formation, looked spectacular.

The Red Arrows did a smokey fly-past before landing. Not sure if they go that every time they arrive in F'boro but it certainly livened the office up mid-afternoon.

Nowhere better I could think of putting this, and not worth a new thread, so...

Today, Thursday 13th October, 2016. Did I glimpse/hear a Dakota over Farnborough this afternoon?

Dark shape, glimpsed through thick tree cover, and heard more than seen. But the portion of wing I saw had the correct leading edge angle relative to the trailing edge, and it certainly sounded like a throaty big radial engine (or two! wink ).

Because I was cycling on mountain bike trails at the time I'm not completely sure of direction, but I think it was coming from Deepcut/Pirbright way, heading south over Mytchett and Farnborough.

Anyone else see/hear something similar?
