A bit late to this thread, but this flew over Sandhurst on July 16th
You sure it wasn't the 15th _MG_8587 by Jim Pritchard, on Flickr
It must be "Radial Twin Week" or something.
Have we got a preserved Lockheed Electra (or some very similar twin-radial with two vertical tail surfaces) flying in the UK?
Because I swear I saw one over Farnborough this Saturday (15th October) heading south in the early afternoon. No chance of a photo because I was out giving my car it's annual wash at the time...

Cheers Eric! I knew I wasn't "seeing things" and suspected that someone on here would know exactly what it was.
Definitely "Radial Twin Week" hereabouts then. What with the Dakota earlier in the week. What next, I wonder? Anson? Mitchell? Blenheim? Catalina? Perhaps I should make a wish list!
Formation flypast by a P-61, P-38, A-26, and F7F for me please!

There was a Lockheed 10 Electra performing at Farnborough Airshow this year. It is superficially similar to the Beech 18 but sounds very different - more like two Harvards in formation. It was the first time I'd seen a Lockheed 10 flying and the sound surprised me -
And I found a picture of an Electra and a Beech 18 in the air together - so you can see the similarities - and differences -

Bumping this thread rather than create another.
Two Apache helicopters spotted about ten past four, flew directly over my house and looked to be heading approximately south-east, so probably taking them over Farnborough town centre and off to the east of the airport perimeter.
Always look so damned mean, and fly so slowly. But nice to see one (or two in this case) once in a while...

Often come over me (Farnham) into Odiham.. Absolutely love them.. I was working at Boscombe Down when one of the first of 'ours' arrived for evaluation. It was parked in a HAS and then dramatically 'unveiled' when the door opened. A memory that will live with me for ever! Utterly brilliant machines.. I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of Salisbury Plain next to Keevil Airfield. My favourite moment so far has been an Apache popping up in my rear view mirror when heading out one evening. Lost concentration a little in that moment, I will admit. Almost makes up for the low flying C-17s that often keep our young son awake at night. Two Apache helicopters spotted about ten past four, flew directly over my house and looked to be heading approximately south-east, so probably taking them over Farnborough town centre and off to the east of the airport perimeter.

OK. I'm preparing for flak incoming, but...
It was at Blackbushe, not Farnborough, and on the ground, not in the air. Sneakily hidden, runway side of the buildings near where the Robinson helicopters congregate, there was what appeared to be an ex Army Air Corps De Havilland Beaver AL Mk1. Judging by the position of the black portion of the camouflage finish on the starboard side it may even have been the Historic Aircraft Flight Beaver, XP820/G-CICP.
Easily visible from the fence line across the end of the runway too. Sorry, no pictures from me as my camera is broken, but it has visited Blackbushe in the recent past...
They also have what appears to me to be a Guimbal Cabri G2 - a small helicopter visually similar to a Robinson R22, slightly more streamlined cockpit 'glass' and a fenestron tail rotor. I've not seen one these before...

I missed it "live", but caught a piece on BBC South News this morning. They had a 'fly-in' at Blackbushe this weekend, including the Beaver, a Yak, and a few others I now forget. An interview with someone involved with the event too. The only bit I caught was something about "already having enough interest for a 3 hour flying display" or something along those lines.
Sounds like it could be good this year, and if I'm about then I'll definitely schlep up there for a mooch about...

Nice Beaver!
Seriously does anyone know when they were retired from active service at Middle Wallop?
I must have been school age and when my Dad found out that they were being pensioned-off, he got me to write a letter to the Commanding Officer at MW asking if they would donate one to our school and put it in the playground.
Sadly the CO didn't agree to my request, but did reply with a nice letter and a large black-and-white in-flight photograph of a Beaver to hang on my wall.
On reflection it was just as well. They would have needed to lower the aircraft into our playground by helicopter and I don't know what the Headmaster would have said when he saw it...

Sorry, Eric. That's what I'm on about, the anniversary 'air day'. I thought I'd mentioned it in my previous post, but hadn't. It's what this weeend's fly-in was about, I think - publicity stuff for the main event.
"Blackbushe 75" for those what's interested. Saturday and Sunday, 1st and 2nd July 2017. They've got a list of planned participating aircraft on their website now -- http://www.blackbushe75.com/participating-aircraft... -- and I'm really liking the idea of a Wasp AND a Scout in the same place at the same time.
