Any ideas? Flew over my flat a short time ago at about 3000ft.

I get a C130J and an A400M flying over every evening but this was on a completely different flight path and way lower than normal.

KC-10 (and other things not on FR24) making a hell of a noise over West Wiltshire earlier, about 30mins ago, may have been that?

Similar callsigns over East Anglia tend to be Ospreys, just like the one that rattled my sash windows at 500ft this afternoon. Did it sound big and rotory?

I agree, it was an Osprey. It went down to the West Country late afternoon and then heading up to the Stanta training area around Thetford before going back to Mildenhall.

Coincidentally one just passed over me, although slightly higher this time. Between that and a visit from a pair of Apaches it's been a busy evening of bearding out of the window.

She made a magnificent noise as she rumbled out of BHX this morning.

I heard the same when I was in Buckingham, definitely sounded like there was more than just the KC10 up there!

Similar aircraft concept but the Airbus is what 1000x per unit more expensive?

An A400M is more than twice the MTOW of an AN12.

Nothing showing on FL or ads-b, most of the action seems to be over the East coast around the Wash. It does make you wonder how much stuff we see on these tracking maps.

As mentioned previously, the USAF stuff out of Lakenheath very seldom appear on ADSB (oddly only if they are out late at night). Entirely possible that it might be a bunch of Yanks on their way somewhere. The Eurofighters are almost always showing, except for the one that went over my garden at about 1000ft the other day.

I can't see it on the pics but wouldn't surprise me if that flew into St Athan rather than Cardiff airport?

No it was Cardiff.
