Yep - I was on board a couple of weeks ago. Incredibly interesting bit of kit, need to sort through my photos from it.

Typical 10 hour flights with relatively complex curved flight plan, increasing altitude as they use up fuel (higher is better) and enough fuel left to divert to Auckland should they need to.

There was a high flying helicopter overhead yesterday which is unusual in Essex, It's usually a police helicopter 100ft over the house shining a light in the garden, turns out it was this:

It appears to be a frequent visitor to the UK......

I saw one of them (forgive my ignorance but how many have the RAF got ?) yesterday at around 16:15 - heading towards Brize Norton - about 2 miles from our holiday home.

ETA - just saw the Callsign and that tied up too - after he landed he was practising a reversing manoeuvre.

Number 10, ZM410 was delivered at the weekend.

ETA correct tail number prefix, I had used a C17 one.

Number 10 already, knew they had ordered 22 and the last one is due 2019 so that fits.

I wonder of you chaps will know...?

Dark green (military I presume) four engined prop plane going back and forth over the Porthcothan/Constantine Bay area on Monday afternoon - what would it likely have been?

Was quite interesting watching it (and later the Red Arrows) from my kayak off the coast smile

Being empty probably makes it easier, and a nice jet stream tail wind too. Surely they all must make that journey across the Atlantic to start with.
