Do air ambulances not show on here? Flew over me twice the other day and I couldn't find them.
I only tend to see them on ADSB, same with Police choppers.
I often see the Dorset/Somerset AA on FR24, and recently I've seen the Wiltshire and the Devon helicopters too. I know when they're about to look for them, though, as they often come in to the Royal Bournemouth hospital right over my house. The Coastguard SAR helicopters mostly aren't identified beyond the helicopter type, and they can't land at the hospital's pad here, so they come in to a local school's playing fields (or so I'm told) and transfer casualties to a waiting road ambulance for the last half mile or so. Lots of transfers from the Channel islands, I think...
The East Anglian Helimed shows up on ADS-B as I was watching one that landed in a local village last night.

What's happening here then

I'd guess at a problem identified on departure, so diagnosing & planning the next stage, whilst burning off some fuel.

Poor buggers. Probably battled through huge queues at MAN check-in and security, boarded the plane, finally took off to a sigh of relief that their much awaited holiday in Cape Verde is actually going ahead, only to find the plane turning back by the time it got to Wales. Nightmare.

Clearly its not so much of an emergency that they need to get down on the ground sharpish, but sufficient to need to RTB rather than continue and thus need to fuel burn to get the weight down to land.

Looks like he is heading for the northern route in via Bury, Oldham, Glossop and then turn onto finals towards Stockport.

As I recall it, the TUI 767s don't have the dump option, as that generation of Boeing can land at max take off weight anyway, subject to additional maintenance checks afterwards. Hence better to burn it on a guided tour, than tie up the aircraft on the ground for the extra checks.

The 767-200 can not dump fuel, but the 300 can. However, it can only dump from the centre tank, so with full wing tanks and a full load of pax you are still over the max landing mass. It remains the captain's choice to land over weight or burn fuel to below MLM.
