I know the chap that lives on it. It rarely moves from its mooring though.
It is built from an old propane tank, sadly it is not submersible, it would have cost far too much to engineer that - as you might imagine, it does have portholes below the water line though. It is also sea going if he wanted to take it anywhere.
That water is a tad deeper than 6ff too.

Cunningly situated on a quiet arm of dead end canal in the middle of east Yorkshire......but keep it to yourself......its a secret.....Shhhhh
'ow do ee get that under't canal bridges an' that? 'appen. It certainly wouldn't work on my local canal - our LAs built lots of really quite low bridges over it while it was in a disused state, so low that you can't walk the towpath under some of them without hunching over or stooping down. You can't get anything much taller than a traditional narrowboat under them.

Not knowing exactly what canal it is on to be certain but some up Yorkshire way are mainly swing or lift bridges. It certainly wouldn't work on my local canal - our LAs built lots of really quite low bridges over it while it was in a disused state, so low that you can't walk the towpath under some of them without hunching over or stooping down. Its only one lock from the tidal river HULL ...about 300 yards from where they used to build Ton class minesweepers at Beverley....
In that case I'd be tempted to go to periscope depth, ease out then upstream on the Humber under cover of night - and do the world a favour, and torpedo Goole.Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
