The article mentions a deltic was used to position the flying Scotsman.
The Deltic was on the back of the Flying Scotsman, not sure if it remained there on the run in to York.Whilst they look similar, Pendalino is an Alstom train, the new ones on the ECML are Hitachi type 800s - assembled up in Newton Aycliffe, Co. Durham.
Have been in the factory a few times (they are a client of mine) - the new train is a huge improvement on the current rolling stock - and they should be a whole lot more efficient and reliable.
