First full trailer actually looks very promising.

I think it looks boring, and the CGI is obviously not finished.. well I hope not! Also music with lyrics in Star Trek? Didn't work for Enterprise and it doesn't work here. Set a decade before the 1960's series in the prime timeline, but doesn't look it. I get that beehive hairdos and 1960's fashion wouldn't cut it today, but at least try and make it look credible. Also what's going on with the Klingons new look?

I want to be proved wrong, and hope it isn't a dud. TNG had a somewhat turbulent launch 30 years ago and turned out brilliant, so there's hope yet... I'm looking forward to this finished product regardless. I've always wanted to see a post TNG Series over yet another prequel.

Have to echo some of the above, set before ToS and yet it looks more futuristic in terms of technology, how will they explain that?

Also I wish they'd stop going back, why not go forward? Plenty of scope for story-lines set after Voyager\DS9.

A bit disappointed so far but we'll see.

Disagree you can't have it looking 60's pastiche. Time will tell of course but I'm looking forward to it and will give it a go at least.

But what if it's set 10 years before kirk but not the 60's kirk but the new movies kirk. We have an alternative reality going on with the movies so who is to say this is following the series from the 60's and not more recent movies.

Also if it was set 10 years before the 60's Kirk, would they not be sporting 50's dos?

As said above, I'd like to see another series based in the future with a new USS Enterprise. I know there has been DS9, Voyager and now Discovery, but for me Star Trek is the Enterprise and the goings on around it.

Amazing CGI does not make a story. They need strong leads. They need a new Spock, Data, Seven of Nine or something and they need to STICK WITH IT. I'm fed up with these new, wonderful great series starting only to find it cancelled before completion.

Enterprise didn't work for me at all. Although a pioneering show the original looks too old now. TNG got it just about right and Voyager was quite good.

Yep new Enterprise, new crew, set it 40 years after the last of the Voyager\DS9 timelines so you have some familiar elements but far enough forward so you can have new plots, new technology etc. I think it's what a lot of Trek fans have wanting for years and yet we seem to be stuck in a loop where we keep revisiting the same old timelines.

CBS confirmed it was set in the prime universe (original)

Looks decent.

Since every type of story has already been told in the trek universe at least once, I don't really care if they retread on old paths again. It's simply good that trek is back on the box.

Looks like another (part human?) vulcan, klingons etc. FFS the klingons started out as blacked up/fake tanned guys, so thank god they were reimagined! They were rendered impotent in DS9 and voyager, so they have to be made more interesting/alien again.

Visual effects technology gets more sophisticated, of course this directly influences what represents the trek themes/concepts on screen in each era. How sophisticated would TOS look if they could render anything photorealistically? It's only the themes/concepts that pass along between series. They can reimagine any part of it. You have to be a bit retarded to expect differently.

Interesting is what i will say based in the trailer, although i have to agree i would much prefer another series set after voyager/ds9 timelines myself.

Not really, haven't seen much of Enterprise as it was pretty bland, and didn't like Voyager all that much... and I don't get the techno talk, just a big sci fi fan! TNG and DS9 were required viewing in the 1990's growing up!

I am just keeping everything crossed this is good, the bridge etc looks a bit too JJverse but fingers crossed that is the only similarity.

From a personal point of view i hope they just make the start trek universe feel big again, none of that instant warp/galactic transporter bks of the JJ films.

The Cardassian war was mentioned a few times but none of the series went into much detail. Could be interesting to see how it started, the Maquis, subjugation of Bajor etc Maybe follow the USS Rutledge?

I will miss the ship's computer Majel Barrett. Somehow anyone else won't be the same.
