There were a couple of examples in the recent 'Reasons you broke off your relationship' thread, but I thought it was worth its own thread because it's a different topic and I'm sure there must be some corkers.

I dated a girl in sales, extremely successful, lovely girl, but a bit needy at times, a bit full on and to be honest, I just wasn't feeling it. One of those great in theory ones.

I knew it was going to be hard, but I gritted my teeth, and when I went to her house for the weekend (she lived about an hour away) I sat her down and said 'I'm really sorry', etc and broke it off.

I left immediately, got in my car and drove away thinking 'it can't have been that easy...' In fact I stopped on the motorway at a services for 20 mins as I had visions of her chasing me down the road, and I seriously considered staying with a friend as I knew she'd be waiting for me when I got home. But she wasn't, so I went to bed (was getting late) and went to sleep.

6am the following morning I'm awoken by a hammering on the door. Yup, it couldn't have been that easy...

I let her in and told her I was going to get a shower, mostly to give me chance to wake up and get my act together. I got dressed and went downstairs.

What followed was one of the worst mornings of my life. She refused to leave, she harangued me constantly, she went on and on and on and on. I seriously considered leaving myself! But didn't want to leave her alone in my house.

Ironically, all I kept thinking was 'bloody glad I'm out of this, all she's doing is proving I made the right decision!'

I stuck to my guns and after what must have been over four hours, she eventually agreed to leave but ONLY on the condition that I agreed to meet her one week later. I agreed because she genuinely would not have left otherwise. Needless to say, I didn't meet her a week later...

Anyway, probably fairly mild compared to many, but it didn't feel it at the time.

Also had a coupe of 'I'm pregnant' lies after break ups, but I think that's pretty standard. (Has reminded me of a mate who's ex left a bottle of what was supposedly her urine on his doorstep for him to test to 'prove' she was pregnant even thought she wasn't - presumably had a pregnant, and obliging, friend)

I'm sure others have much better ones.

Been given the "i'm pregnant" line before, more gregnunt in reality!

Think it was a guy on here that has a vindictive ex go through his whole house a few weeks later smearing her "saved up" st everywhere resulting in a very significant insurance job!

You'll never, ever find a story to match that of "stty cushions"

Many moons ago I met a lovely German lass whilst skiing, went to visit her in Berlin where she lived with her folks, wrote a dear john letter a few weeks later and around two months after that she turned up out of the blue at my parents place, having run away from Berlin without anybody knowing.
Though it rude to put her on the first train back so she stayed for a very happy week (for me), off she went and the message finally got through. Mind you she did sent me some rather splendid photos, sadly I disposed of them before the next filly could find them.

Before i clicked the thread, i thought that i'd have nothing to add - then i read the 'Pregnant' bit and it all came flooding back.....

Not worth going into details as it's a bit of a cliché, but did lead to me being on the receiving end of a particularly vicious beating from her brother (& friends) and spreading lies to everyone i knew about a 'convenient' pregnancy.

In the end, i had to get help from my dad so i could change university and get him to change our home phone number!

Do girls keep a stock collection of baby scans to send, handily cropped to take out the name, dates, and location?

18, she told me she was pregnant, I joined the navy so I could provide for my child but not be forced into a relationship with the mother. Smart recruiter got me to do some maths and call BS on imaginary pregnancy. My biggest regret is that I didn't join up in the end!

My brother got hit with the pregnancy one on exiting his previously very rocky marriage. Apparently she provided a tester with the mark on it etc. Miraculously lost the baby but was very sketchy on the detail.

Having been thorough miscarriage with my Mrs we called total BS on it. She was a total hose beast that one.

Girl who I broke up with turned round to tell me she started counseling for depression a week earlier. That one was hard, had she told me before hand that she wasnt very well I'd have understood and given her more time. She was/is a lovely lass and I hope sorts herself our properly.

Funny, some of the other breakups have been much harder in the moment, but that is one which sticks 4 years later.

Funnily enough I recalled this first one during a chat with a few friends over drinks on Saturday night.

Went out with a girl for just under a year and we broke up because I had interest from another lady....yes I was a st...it was the '90s and I was about 22/23. I really didn't handle it well.

So the now ex let down all four tyres on my lovely white mk1 MR2 - on an E plate, T-bar roof - great car!

She also emptied my Hugo Boss (it was the 90s) EDT down the sink. However she hadn't been able to take the top off - it was crimped on - so must have sat there pressing the spray continually for an hour as it was an almost full bottle...must have really made her hand ache.

All a bit awkward as we lived in the same shared house!

The absolute worst though was when I broke up with my partner of 15 years due to her increasing mental health issues (we had 5 years of it getting worse - dreadful). She went on to make several suicide attempts post-breakup.

Although everyone says that I did the best I could I (with hindsight) sometimes Ithink I should have done x or y instead. Maybe got her sectioned instead of trying to deal with it ourselves or got her to leave work or..... Very sad.

I've not really had a "bad" breakup as such, but this is up there.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Basically nice enough but naive Tumblr-type girl, I ask PH for advice, she stalks me online as she is so concerned that I'd leave her, and within 2 hours of having the post online she finds it, despite being at work.

Got the job done I suppose.

I've also had a breakup where the girl was obviously messing around with me, while I was the victim of emotional abuse, then immediately got with my mate, completely fracturing my friend group, whom after a year or so, got screwed over in exactly the same way.

Luckily I'm young enough to not have any of some of these funny / horrific stories happen to me.

Mine: I was moving abroad. I'd been living with my then g/f for about 2 years, together for about 3. She thought she was moving with me, but she wasn't, and she didn't know it. It was my nastiest, most selfish time ever. I truly regret how I handled it and treated her.
Sorry, Maria. You didn't deserve that. frown
