The new Seat Arona.

It really doesn't smell of your chair. Honest.

Named after a municipality in Tenerife. Most are named after citys or towns.

Exeo is one of the exceptions.

I thought it was a typing error for Arosa.

How many other manufacturers have two models with just one letter difference in their names?

I don't know, but I do know that the Ford Cougar and Ford Kuga annoys me every time I see one.

The Toyota MR2 had problems in France.

I think they called it the MR there.

They just launched the Ateca, can't see the point of this car.

But it is nice to have an actual name, rather than the drab A1, A3, A4

It's a niche down.

The Ateca is Golf-sized/derived - Tiguan/Q3, Qashqai rival
This is Polo-sized/derived - Q1, Juke rival.

I've drove one for a few days last week, it's fine. Even in 1.0 petrol guise. Basically a VW Tiguan (which is no bad thing) but cheaper and aimed at a different market sector.

I remember seeing a Fiat with TURd or maybe turD on the back (turbo diesel) and a Peugeot with GRDt (looked like 'grot' at a glance) but they weren't model names. The Japanese must have a bizarre sense of humour to call a car a 'Cedric'.

We did look at an Ateca. In top spec, it was nice. Electric boot etc (which the Tiguan doesn't have), but in the end we went for a Tiguan SEL.I also thought the Ateca would be Tiguan sized, but it felt a lot smaller.

There's at least another 1 SEAT SUV coming next year.
