I haven't been to the Southampton show for years, but now I'm no longer a fender kicker and have entered the giddy heights of boat ownership (see pic, try to control your envy) I've decided to pop along for a nosey, is anyone going? Is there anything particularly worth seeing this year?

Also does anyone know if there are any ticket deals available?

Not aware of any massive discounts, others may do better than I can.

The yacht market is offering discounted early bird tickets £12 any day ticket use including preview day.

Also premier marinas are offering a park and ride from their marina in Swanwick where they have a used boat show running concurrently. £14 quid all up, park ride and tickets or £13 for premier berth holders. I did it last year, you need to pre book the bus times when you buy your tickets...

I'm going Saturday. Don't have a boat.
Mrs bought the tickets as part of my birthday present.
I assume I can get to go on the yachts there - quite fancy seeing up close the big Sunseekers/Fairlines etc.

I’m there working a few days at the beginning of the week.

Not really offers on but a good opportunity to see kit and try gear on. Head over to Honda as they do free rib rides and other taster sessions.

Fairline normally don’t allow anyone on board other than VIPs but sunseeker do, some make you take shoes off the cheaper stuff don’t.

We took some boats there today, part of the Jeanneau stand. I dont get to work the show when punters are there, just do some of the setup, but I've been told that the marina part is quiet first thing when the doors open until everyone filters through the rest of the show so if you head straight there you stand the best chance of having a mooch around some of the big stuff.

Completely untrue about Fairline.

No issues at all about anyone getting on any of the boats as long as they're polite and sometimes prepared to wait during the busy periods (except the largest Sunseekers - they tend to be invitation only).

Echo the comments of above, hit the pontoons early when they're quiet and you'll get on just about anything.

Certainly the last few years I’ve attended they’ve been fenced off from the rest. I was fortunate a couple of years ago to be a guest of theres and look round the boats and get boozed up on their behalf.

If they do let anyone on board they don’t give off the impression with a fence around the jetty ala Rolls Royce at a car show.

Well that was a good day out. Weather held, and at times was very warm!
Sunseeker... all available to get on apart from the 95. Awesome looking boats!
Monte Carlo allowed us on and had a good chat with Eric, one of the sales blokes. IMO not in the same league finish wise as the Sunseeker.
Princess was by appointment only as was Fairline so we didn't go on these.
Can't remember what else we had a look about with ........ but we did with a few smaller craft.
The tall ship was awesome. The food expensive and ste.
Kids activities ok.
Crowds...... bearable..... we went straight to the Sunseeker at 10am and that was a top tip.... relatively quiet but did see someone buying a 68 Sport Yacht!!

We had a good day yesterday, wasn't too busy. We'd hoped not to go on a Saturday, but diary commitments meant it was the only day we could do.

Had very good chats with Hanse, Beneteau and Bavaria. Certainly some thinking to be done in the next few weeks. The new Hanse 548 is absolutely wonderful, as is the new Beneteau 51.1
