Interesting looks like the finished article, looks to have same rear end of the 718 spyder previously spotted so maybe same engine?

It looks like it has the same front end as a GTS, plus the brakes aren't big enough. To my eyes, that's a GTS with a spoiler....

I agree with GT$ - those exhausts are definitely same as recent Spyder shots

Not sure the brakes are Gts size front look gt4 size , also has Gt4 intake scoops although slightly different design. Looks to me as if it will share engine with 718 Spyder what ever that maybe

If that's it, I'd say it shows serious cost cutting as I'm sure they are GTS brakes (certainly the rear, it looks small although the front may be a 911 6-pot?) and that's definitely the GTS front bumper. Looks like it might be a manual too?

The only bespoke bodywork is the rear spoiler and diffuser, the interior will likely be the same as the GTS (as on the 981) bar the LWB option.

So, what engine is in it?

The front has an open grille, no protection as you can clearly see the radiator on the right. Al GT series have closed grilles. So IMHO is this is a GTS with some goodies.

Also the front fenders have no "black line" (rubber?) that follows to the the front bumper (like all GT series have)

FWIW that is.

Could be a GT4 test car with a GTS front end to confuse people like us....

Indeed, but there's not a lot else to talk about!

Really looks like a mish mash to me. The exhaust are definitely wider apart and I have been told the next gt4 wil come with an enlarged rear diffuser which looks the case here. The spacing does make you think 3litre Turbo sport exhaust from 991 but N/A can surely be the only choice as it's a GT car.

The wing end plates look matt to me which could follow the black matt black detail on the 991.2 GT3. Gt4 wheels which would suggest is a GT4 mule, part of the callipers couid be hiding behind the black wheel spoke? Side scoops seem standard 718 affair of which I'm not a fan so I hope they do something there. Front bumper definitely looks GTS and it does look to be manual.

I really don't like the raised Porsche logo part of the rear bumper. Looks messy compared to the old one.

Edited to say it also looks to perhaps have folding buckets?

True. I meant in comparison to the 981 GT4 which at least had bespoke aero, side scoops etc.

Here's a thought - maybe it won't have a GT4 badge, it might be a 718 R given the closer similarity to the non-GT cars?

I might be the 718T, run out parts bin special of the 718.1 before the 718.2 comes along. Cynical marketing at it’s best?

It’s a business there will be a bottom line and profits they need to make on every model.

If they made 300 GT4 then yes but they made what 6000 of them, it’s a cash cow as they sell without any marketing.

It’s a full production car at today’s build levels and the build is micro managed on every penny, hence no free buckets etc so the real price was not the headline £64k joke.

GTs could well be loss-leaders or technology-demonstrators ("halo cars")

Here's some others (NB how many are VAG products) that lost money:

Bugatti Veyron,
Lexus LFA
VW Phaeton
Audi A8
Honda NSX

You could have something a good work around the engine problem.A bit like the runout 987.2 models that way the 718 spyder/R keep the same flat 4 engine as the 718 with less weight a few more hp and bespoke suspension and no Gt4 until the 718.2 model perhaps with the flat4 that everyone has been use to in top model caysters.

Just found out that's it's a GT4 development car. Normally aspirated, huge diffuser as you can see and it's a newly developed exhaust which could have something to with emissions I guess or not as the case may be.

Spyder would I think have same unit which as we've heard before will probably be a 4 litre flat six from the old car.

Voila.

Good info - from the tea lady? biggrin

I guess the styling could change, but it looks a hell of a lot like an almost finished car...
