we're just starting our eldest sons bedroom and he wants it like batman and the bat cave, so i need to get some cave style cladding for the walls,

any ideas?

all I've found is split tiles but that isn't what I'm after

I'm building his bed myself

check this web site: http://www.uniquekidbeds.com/4.html

if you scroll down, there is one which might help you.

My son is a fan of lego batman and the Minions so I created a stencil and made it happen. to make a full room must be a nightmare!

I had a Pg3 themed room when I was a teenager ... oddly the window cleaner used to take an age doing my windows!

Cut foam covered with plaster of Paris strips that are used for setting broken bones.

We used the stuff to do scenery for my old model railway when I was a kid. Great for undulating contours and sets rock hard.

I'm just glad my lad just wants Star Wars wallpaper.

Surely to god you didnt give in to his demands? Your house price would have halved overnight with that filth on the wall.

There’s a company in Liverpool who spray paint graffiti designs of your design onto bedroom walls very cool indeed they could help you - huge batman logo your sons name etc...

How old is the kid? Might he not grow out of it by the time it is finished?!

He’s 5 and more than likely I’m trying to persuade him to something else I prefer avengers or something else his Bedroom is fairly plain at the mo apart from posters, it’s the wife who wants to make it special as she’s been looking at kids bedrooms on Pinterest and told me I best be getting my arse in gear

Wall murals will do the job for the little fella, rather than messing around with foam and plaster of paris.

Pitch him the idea of a Superman themed room then paint it white, fill it with old office furniture and some health and safety laminates on the wall. Hey presto, Clarke Kent’s office. Very cheap to do and will give him a huge head start in corporate life. biggrin

This, an amateur (no offence OP) attempt at making a cave will look pony

A few Murals

Some grey paint with Yellow accents and the right bedding and he'll be right

That looks superb we have a neno one for our daughter. This will look far better than cobbling something together yourself op.

Surprised at the lack of Pistonheads imagination/budget here, no-one has mentioned contracting the job out to a professional film and TV set designer? wink

I wouldn't do anything with polystyrene or papier-mache, bit too flammable?

Personally I'd paint the whole room (including the ceiling and back of the door) dark grey - something like Dulux Urban Obsession. Add some dark grey flame retardant fabric drapes from the ceiling to the walls to round off the corners. Maybe some fabricated cones as stalactites painted the same grey and fixed to the ceiling to cover the join between fabric/ceiling.

Soft cube shaped seating covered in grey fabric for rocks scattered about?

Obviously you need spiders/bats on fishing line that move up and down as the door opens....

Keep us posted!

Missus has said she wants to get Christmas out the way first which suits me but this weekend or next I’m going to buy a board some expanding foam and plaster of Paris and have a go! Plan is to do his 3 walls in a rock style the 4th to have a mural his roof is getting the artex skimmed off and spotlights (going to see about colour changing spots) then build him a bunk bed with a den underneath that’s the mo I’ve been given! Our youngest wants minions he’s only 2 so not picky

If you are going with the colour changing LED light options you could always combine with an amazon alexa or google home which he could use to turn lights on and off/change colour by voice for extra batman like gadgets. wink

Just make sure the bulbs are compatible if you do.

Have to be careful what he asks alexa though, I seen a video online of a kid asking something and alexa misunderstood and starts talking about dildos while the parents try to shut her up hehe
