The RAF don't have a modern camo Typhoon, it was repainted.
No but the RAF's 'real' Hawker Typhoon is currently at Coningsby.
Quite. As I asked in my first reply to the op.

Thanks.....
Very loud, and VERY fast...dont know if the Vig can go quicker, but he ran the Draken over the front of the line and up about as fast as Ive ever seen anything go - and Ive been Drag racing and seen Sammy Millers Rocket car....

Mach 2. Viggen was a tad faster at a claimed Mach 2.1 at 36,000ft.

When I joined the Air Force Drakens were still being operated by the Austrians and the Danes in the fighter-recce role. Low and fast in the 'Weedosphere'.

Awesome bit of kit for its time when you consider it was designed in the mid '50s but had a performance equivalent to the MiG23, which started production in 1970!

The RDAF Drakens visit to Binbrook in 1982 was pretty impressive - flying fast and low between the hangars.

The Viggen was awseome too, operating off roads. I well remember the display at the last ever Finningley airshow in 1995.

Fabulous...... cool

Love the fact the Swedes are keeping a few of their fabulous jet aircraft designs airworthy.

Did the Draken, Viggen (and Gripen) ever see combat?

Don't believe any Draken's or Viggen's ever saw combat.

SAF used their Gripen's during the no-fly enforcement over Libya, but they didn't drop any ordnance.

I know. And in reply to that I said that if it had somehow made its way to the Channel Islands we'd all be a lot more excited. I then suggested it might be a modern Typhoon, because I know that one was painted up in WW2 colours a little while ago. However, because I'm not *that* interested in modern aircraft colour schemes, other than professionally, I didn't know that aircraft was now grey again.

So thanks for clearing that up. biggrin

I’ve always loved the Draken ever since I built an Airfix one as a boy.

I stand corrected,it was actually the Viggen I saw briefly....

No typhoon at all that I saw.

Still enjoyed the show , the display from the PItt special was something else, never seen a plane thrown around like that before .
Rich Goodwin? If so he’s currently building another Pitts with propellor and 2 miniature jet engines either side to do a dual display rofl
Thast the chap! Truly amazing to a noob like me....
yes Low level slow pass at Biggin Hill 19th August.
