As per thread title.

We were in Dover Castle around 5pm when what sounded like a Spitfire flew over in the distance and did a victory roll, it seemed to have pointed wing tips but it was too far away to be sure.

Anyone confirm it was a Spitfire?

Having holidayed in the area quite a few times, Spitfires are a very regular sight in the skies. The white cliffs are one of their favourite haunts for paying passengers.

Yep see spitfires most weekends over summer in Kent, flying from headcorn and biggin hill. Both single and dual seat. Single seaters often have a chase plane or helicopter with paying passengers on board.

I live up on the North Downs above Folkestone and on Sundays in the summer it's like August 1940 - the little boy in me loves it!

Do you get Messerschmitts, Dorniers and Heinkels too?

Sticks.

Mrs FFG went up in one on Sunday morning and flew over the white cliffs. She flew from Headcorn, luckily just before the heavens opened.
Yes, it is pricey but these things are rare now and expensive to maintain and keep in the air. Supply and demand.

Far less rare than they used to be.

I live in Deal a bit further along the coast from Dover . The sound of a merlin is an at least weekly occurrence all year round and much more often during the summer months .
The white cliffs are the iconic venue for photography on the flights . The pilots usually salute the The Battle of Britain memorial at Caple le Fern , often with a victory roll . I am off to the memorial over the weekend as thats where my parents ashes were scattered .
Yes , by pure coincidence a spitfire did a victory overhead just as we finished our little ceremony. Dad was ex RAF having served for 32 years .

Was at Headcorn last weekend the Flying Legends building was open & there were two Spits doing pleasure trips. The AT6 was there as well as a Tiger Moth, great plane spotting day!

I live in mid Kent and the Spitfire is pretty much a daily visit, often more than once. I absolutely love the sound of the Merlin but because it's so frequent it doesn't get me running out of the house to take a look any more.

MrsC used to work largely outdoors and when it overflew them they used to wave and regularly got a wing waggle in return.

What did catch my eye/ear was a Dakota which overflew last weekend; now that was unusual. A plane I would love to fly!

Where I live in Ashford the Spitfire from Headcorn is a regular appearance, even to the point now where hearing it is boring! I'll often see the Harvard being thrown around by it's owner over the nearby countryside, and saw that and a Spitfire chasing each other round and round in a mock dogfight the other day. Hearing multiple Merlins is still an odd sight though, but there seems to have been a pair of Spits floating around quite a bit this summer.
