We know Scarlett is coming next year, so unless that's silly cheap...
This is Scarlett is it not? Bizarre time to announce. I know that Christmas sales for existing hardware would be low because it's long in the tooth but this should drive it to zero!Edited by robbieduncan on Friday 13th December 09:25

It's the perfect time to launch surely? Also if they announce it now they'll maybe deter a few people that are sat on the fence from buying a PS5?
Which is not available to buy. But launching now they prevent a handful of people getting existing generation hardware for Christmas (and presumably getting them hooked on XBox). Had they launched in Jan/Feb they could have had normal sales volume over Christmas and still had launch hype. Most Christmas presents will already be bought so unless people return them they are sold. But I expect retailers are pretty annoyed. It's actually consumer friendly though!

I assume it can be located on its side?
Even if it can, it still looks pretty big given most will be wanted to be fitted in TV cabinet units etc.
I think they are heading more towards a PC gaming style format and away from the media lifestyle accessory for the lounge type thing... at least thats the impression i guess.Even if it can, it still looks pretty big given most will be wanted to be fitted in TV cabinet units etc.
I also imagine its that shape so that they can throw a huge fan in the top for cooling.

The specs will be freely available. It will be very powerful, but it wont be running PC apps anyway so its irrelevant.
Of course it’s not irrelevant lol ! Don’t you count games then many which will be available to run on pc and Xbox via Gamepass ? If I’m buying a game I will have to decide if it will run best on my 3700x, 2070s or the console.Edited by Narcisus on Friday 13th December 20:11

Well most games run best on the format they originate on.Edited by Narcisus on Friday 13th December 20:11

Forza = console game, st and unstable on PC
It all depends what game you are looking at, and you will never know how well they run until the games are out and tested. So right now, it is irrelevant. Put it this way, it will have an SSD hard drive and state of the art graphics, even more so than the One X which was the fastest console in the world.
Teraflop for teraflop though, no, a potentially thousand pound console will not match the power of a thousand pound graphics card, but then the games will be optimised differently for each format.
