Hi guys,
Has anyone got or had the f type 2.0, as just wondering what there like as a daily?
Performance any good?
Fuel economy?
Cheers

I really love the F-Type but would never buy the 4 pot no matter how well it drove. Surely it has to be the V6 as minimum especially when you look at the price of the 4 cylinder cars.

Sorry but a '2.0 Jaguar' is basically a Mazda if not oxymoron.

After owning & driving a, V6S Coupe for a year, my advice... buy the V8.

I’ve got a P250 XE loaner at the moment while my 5.0SC XF is in to sort a few things. Supercharged power has no lag. The XE is very laggy in comparison, and the same engine as the 4-pot f-type albeit with a different map.

The 2.0 is a great daily F type and still offers ample performance
It isn't laggy, and is a good little package

The important bit to remember is the lack of lag when you get the 5.0SC back. SWMBO's turbo Merc wants lots of throttle till the turbos decide to spin up (mad and are massively more laggy since having a firmware update to deal with the cheat code - Thanks VW mad ) do that in the XKR and it's anyones guess where the tail end is going to jump biggrin

Agreed. But I also have 2.0 turbo in my Cooper S. next to no lag there, but they use twin turbos

I test drove one in Sept last year while my XK was in for some work
Chequered flag coupe version in white -looked drop dead gorgeous and it was superb all round -plenty of useable torque ,no discrenable lag .
In fact i thought it suited the car rather well and it felt really well balanced with sharp turn in
More than enough performance to use on our shoddy roads
Also suprisingly made a very nice noise
I would rather have one of the these than say the new BMW Z M40i -much better all round car IMHO aside from the odd day when you get the roof down
If i had the money to burn i would probably buy the 2.0 rather than V6 or V8
Ask your self when are you going to be able to realistically safely use the performance of the bigger engine variants
Apart from pub bragging rights the 2.0 hits the sweet spot
Maybe wait until they bring out a hybrid or an e-version ?

Yes by all accounts it is a lovely drive..... I would ask myself when am I going to be able to realistically safely use the performance of the bigger engine variants ?

I would then answer myself by saying who cares.... I NEED the sound... No matter what ....

I believe that the B48 engine in the Cooper S is a single turbo but a twin scroll. The twin power turbo writing they put on the engine cover is very misleading, and quite a few people think that it is a twin turbo engine when it isn't.

Regardless, it has next to no lag compared to the 2.0 Jag.

Agree and I really like it as an engine. It hardly feels laggy at all when I compare it to some of the other turbo engines I've had for sure.

I really liked the twin turbos of the S-Type; once they got going the power delivery was seamless and superior to petrol. But off the line, you need to allow at least a second... basically, when joining a roundabout, aim directly for the middle of the car you wish to pass behind smile
