I'm perfectly happy with a basic phone, but my Nokia 1 is proving a little too basic and in any event will need a new battery soon and I'm not sure it's worth it.

The biggest problem seems to be the lack of RAM which means it struggles with Spotify and Google Maps.

What phones can I get for under a ton that would be significantly better than a Nokia 1?

The cheaper the better but £100 would be my absolute max budget.

Take a look on here, i bought a nearly new Nokia 7 for just over £100 and it suits me well for maps etc.

Moto G7 play is available for 100. Will run most things more than tolerably well and is slated for an Android update to 10 this quarter. It currently runs 9.

Would you go for that over the E6 Plus which is the same price, at least in Argos?

Work gives Samsung A10 at the moment which are actually surprisingly decent.
Can be had for £100 if you shop around.

Would you consider a Xiaomi Redmi 8a? I have the 6a since May last year, I recommended the 7a to my elderly father (which he bought autumn last year) and it seems the 8a is now sub £100.

I've had loads of Moto G series phones, the 8 is out now so should be plenty of older models available cheaply.

That's good / not good.

I've bought my last 2 phones from there with no issues - can't say I'm a regular buyer but I've probably bought torches and Li-ion batteries from there as well. Pay by PayPal and you are protected.

Try CEX they have loads under £100. And 2GB RAM phones will struggle too these days.

Why not something like a Motorola Moto G6 for £85 - https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail/?id=smotxt1925...

But have a check, maybe limit search to your local one so you can see it before buying.

So you reckon 2 gig might still not be enough?
