I watched two under way out of the bay while I rode my bike up on the Purbeck cliff tops. Couldn't tell which two they were, but the lead ship of the pair set a course out more to the south, into deeper waters. The second stayed far closer to the coast heading east to the Solent. I could just make out some more hulls at anchor in the bay, but it was pretty hazy looking into the sun. All I could really see were some smaller blobs in front of the big Portland-shaped blob!

On Sunday I took my wife to the old RN Armaments Depot in Marchwood to see what was in. Two container ships (YM Essence and MOL Tribute), a bulk carrier (Spar Corona) taking on scrap metal, Britannia, then the "yacht" Dilbar, with Empress Of The Seas further along the quay and Azura side-on to us further down. Dilbar is an absolute monster of a yacht!

Someone ought to tell Royal Caribbean that 'Empress' is looking scruffy, and needs a lick of paint! wink

Put this on your phone and you will be able to see what is where

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:...

Little box at the top right, if you put the name of the boat in there, it will show you on a map where it is in the world. Gives one something to do in these strange times!

You guys in the bay should be ashamed for putting lives at risk!

Also,
Can you please ensure your anchors are not set to automatic, just in case:

Haha! New one for me.
Though the thrusters are on immediate readiness and I wouldn't want to be chewed up by one.
And if the brakes fail on the windlass, goodbye anchor!

We do have signs up and still getting the occasional idiot not being able to read.

You're lucky with your nice cruise ships I've just got a horizon full of tankers.

Not the best quality, but they were lower than our stacks. Impressive flying around the island too!

I've never actually been in there. Though I wouldn't be surprised, we have cooperated with them for some years. From the QE2/Canberra days to present. We took part in a training exercise last year after our refit. Empty cruise = great target. I'll see if I can find a photo I took of our track.

Aurora and Arcadia were both in Bournemouth Bay this morning. Really close to shore too, compared with the Weymouth ships at anchor. While we were up on the overcliff having a look at them we got to watch two RNLI lifeboats at what must have been close to full speed crossing the bay toward Poole.

Back again today, joined by Carnival Breeze this time, an unusual site around English waters.

Bournemouth? The ships in the bay have been chopping and changing with the wind, or so it seems. Two, three, one, three, two. Either they're really good cloaking devices or they move around a lot. The third one with the darker hull was only there a couple of days. My neighbour said it was Cunard's MS Queen Victoria. I only got a quick look with no zoom/binos from the overcliff road. Y'all look soooo purdy with all yo lights on in the bay at night... thumbup

I couldn't be sure, but it looked like only one ship in the bay on Tuesday afternoon when I went for a run between the piers in the murky, misty drizzle.

Lots of balconies for them to practice on, no doubt! Not sure how you’d go on if being held hostage in an inside cabin though.

In the past, there have been sun decks cleared at night and passengers kept below whilst some people got dropped off, who didn't stay on board until the next port...

Cruise ships go past some interesting places. wink

We are coming and going every two weeks at present, for supplies and fuel. We are now nearing the end of our repatriation for most crew and down to 10% of normal operating crew. Its eerily quiet on here without the buzz and busyness of normal operations. Quite sobering too!

Im another unlucky gent stuck out at sea.

my 10 week contract has turned into 6 months so far... Thanks to the USA's CDC who still won't allow us to use commercial airlines.

we went from 8800 onboard to 300, it's picked back up slightly as we are a 'hotel ship' taking people (mainly marine officers) to barbados for charter flights (including me hopefully as my reliever is due today in Miami)

some pics from my drone for anyone interested (little bit warmer than Weymouth)

These were a few months ago before Harmony wen't down to Barbados with 4000 crew for charter flights
