Not amazingly cool, but here’s an An2 and a Harvard sat atop Stuttgart Terminal 3 yesterday. According to the information board, the An-2 could seat 12 adults + 2 children (!). Also what’s the black dorsal protrusion behind the cockpit on the Harvard? You might need to zoom in to see it.

Edit: just a little “not a lot of people know that” fact. Stuttgart airport is called the Manfred Rommel airport. He was a long term mayor of the city. He was also the only son of the Desert Fox Erwin Rommel, but they don’t advertise that fact…
It'll be an RDF (Radio Direction Finding) or ADF (Aircraft Automatic Direction Finding) antenna. Or at least a part of that system. The streamlined fairing contains a loop antenna. Fixed in one position for RDF, and rotating within the fairing for an ADF system...

(from here... https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/22237... )
...you should just about be able to see the loop with the fairing removed in this picture.

This one...

(from here... http://www.warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/v... )
...is from a B-17 Flying Fortress, and was located under the nose of the aircraft. Sometimes referred to as the RDF/ADF "football" by engineering crews.

It's a helium balloon, it's how they stay up in the air.

The last airworthy TriStar I believe, now a Northrop Grumman rocket launcher cool

Stargazer. Very cool, used for putting satellites into orbit.
Spent quite a bit of time doing the conversion and air tests on that many years ago. Designed and engineered in Cambridge.

The greatest aircraft ever in my opinion, brilliant photo showing just how concentrated the guns where, 4 20mm cannon and 4 .303 machine guns, wouldn't fancy being on the receiving end of all that.....

And here's (most of) an old Fagot in the Bakfickan pub in Malmo. I couldn't get my (reassuringly expensive) beer in the shot to post in the "Drinking a beer enjoying the view" Thread.

Slightly off-topic, but when you drive along the E4 motorway from Gothenburg to Stockholm you pass Linkoping where the SAAB aircraft factory is located. There is a selection of their old aircraft mounted for display along the roadside spread across a distance of a few kms. You can see them on satellite maps and try and work out what they are. I think this is the whole selection:

saab 29 and 32

Saab 105 (jet) and yellow safir

Saab 340

Saab Draken and viggen

All of the parts (well, most) were there, but not necessarily in the right order. smile
