Is anyone aware of the exact route of the flypast yet or know when or if it will be published?
Previously, we have been able to position ourselves in a convenient beer garden in Essex based on the plan.
This is the only thing I have seen published so far - I'm not a pilot so cannot work it further - Sorry ! Charts for FlypastPreviously, we have been able to position ourselves in a convenient beer garden in Essex based on the plan.

Area D (via the linked Military Airshows website below) broadly appears to start @ Colchester and follow the A12 down to E London & into town as Area E, suggests that everything will follow that route - assume therefore we'll have them come over, or to the south, of us in Chelmsford. I watched the RAF 100 Years flypast from Fryerning church - many of the planes flew to the north west of the village & we had a great view. The heli's had a different route & seemed to assemble to the north of the city & head in over NE & E London.

I wonder how many pure British aircraft will be involved…
Depends what you mean by “pure British”. You could argue the Hurricane and Lancaster were designed and built in Britain, the Spitfire chief aerodynamicist was Canadian apparently. The rest of the participating aircraft all have multinational input and are almost certainly all the better for it.ecsrobin said:
Just remembered, in previous big flypasts the rotary elements have all met up at RAF Odiham not sure if that’s the case this year.
For the RAF 100 flypast, a large rotary element gathered and departed from RAF Benson; a colleague shot a great video from the airfield. I happened to be there and we were treated to a Typhoon flypast and the arrival of the Reds for a brief pitstop before they departed to return to Scampton. If you trace a line back from Buckingham Palace directly down The Mall, all the way back over Essex, that will give you the formation’s run in. I think the easiest way to do this is in Google Maps, right-click on the Palace, choose measure distance, then just drag the line out, lining it up with direction of The Mall.
I took part in the Queens Birthday flypast in 2016 and although I used our flight planning software to draw the route, the principle is the same. From memory, my sister positioned herself near South Weald park close to Brentwood and we went right over the top on the way in.

My wife was somewhere near Mountnessing, I think, and a previous fly past went directly overhead. She chose that point based on a published route. This time we are trying to find a beer garden to watch from!
Using Google Maps is a good idea!

Why do they fly over Heathrow? Would have thought that was busy airspace to be avoided...
I don’t think they have much choice, each element is moving at different speeds so have to break off as soon as they pass the palace. I understand the helicopters may head south west, the BBMF to the North via Hendon, the heavies and fast jets will probably break off towards Northolt or go straight through over Heathrow. The flypast will cause disruption to Heathrow approach anyway, and they will have had restrictions in place, so overflying it may not make much difference in any case.
