Four Winns vs Maxum Vs Searay

Whats peoples opinions on Four Winns? Where are they compared to Maxum, Bayliner and Searay?

Are you basing that on the new Bayliners or old Bayliners because there is a huge difference.

hmmmm.... i don't really deal with these on a day-to-day basis, but have you considered an older Fairline or Princess as an alternative?... The Princess 266 Riviera is fantastic boat and well suited to the choppy UK-waters.

Okay, bayliners are a lot better these days apparently, but they still have the binliner jokes attached to them.

Bayliner, Maxum and Searay are all made by Brunswick Marine. They all look kind of similar to me. The Maxums look more fashionable with the brushed aluminium etc, but there are loads of them about around me.

Looking on American boat forums, Four Winns owners seam to rate them inline with Searay. Also the Four Winns have Volvo Penta engines not MerCruiser. So anyone been on one or owned one? Do they have a good reputation like Sea Ray?

I dont think the new bayliners are the better ones to be honest, ive got a 1991 2052 and compared to my mates 2006 175 its hull is a lot stronger and the vinyl is a thicker on the seats. Ive had mine for 7 years now and had no problems other than having to replace the manifolds and risers which at that age you can expect this. Saying that its all down to budget at the end of the day.

I'd probably go down the Searay route... or possibly a Mariah or Cranchi (if they make one that small)

Have you thought about a decent RIB? They tend to hold their value a lot better.....

searays rock! i used to sell them. cant beat the build of a searay if you want a br!

Depending on budgets and what not, why not a brand new Glastron MX175 or an older Glastron?

Rinker, Ebbtide and Campion are my favourites in that category.

Bayliner/maxum/searay are all the same really and fourwinns are a bit old hat.

Also consider: Cobalt,Monterey, Crownline, Chriscraft, chaparral which are all pretty decent.

If you want something cheaper along the lines of bayliner then good for: Glastron, Larson and Starcraft.

lol, I wish Cobalt, Monterey, Crownline, Chriscraft, Chaparral where in my budget! All mint!

Well came close to buying an old 20" Four Winns but had to admit to my self that smaller and newer was what I really need. Looking like I may be an owner of a Maxum 1800MX 2005 with only 15 hours on it as of tomorrow.

I like Sea Ray's a lot.. A friend had a 290 Sun Sport. Very stable in a 2-3 ft chop.

Fletcher are good strong sea boats , I have 19GTS Bowrider for sale , with 4.3 V6 . Millenium edition and used to be the owner of Fletcher boats personal toy. In great shape and cheap.With £1500 wake board tower and high five stainless prop .
