Should we ceremonially close the thread now?
Not a bad idea
It's actually a very good idea.

Saw this thread earlier and thought about bumping it, evidently I wasn't the only one!

Is she still stuck outdoors at Finningley? Or are they getting the new hangar project underway?

I flew out of there a couple of weeks ago couldn’t see her. She was over to the left( looking out) of the main building at one point. Looks liked she’s been moved.

558 is stuck down at the far end of the airport on a pan. The Canberra was parked up nearer to hangar 3 by a security gate.

There is a care and maintenance plan ongoing for the aircraft. Taff Stone is still crew chief.

It's amazing how it seemed she had it all, and now, no thanks to Pleming and Edmundson, she's a forgotten relic that's been sat outdoors through four winters... it will be a continual battle to keep the corrosion at bay.

The end was coming, everyone knew that even before she returned to the sky. Can I ask how much you’ve contributed to her upkeep over the last ten years or so?

Yes, it was but wasn’t there when I flew the other day.

Maybe in for maintenance.

Well, where else was it going to go, where it wasn't going to be outside for evermore?

I wonder why they didnt fly it to Brunters for its last landing ? Surly those guys would have been delighted to add it to the runners they already have ?
