Hypothetically speaking... What is the best way to evade a Police Helicopter?

My best guess is to head into a large multi-storey car park then dump the car and hide in amongst the shoppers? However not sure that would work if you have to carry large Securicor cash box with you.

Any idea's welcome.

Cover yourself in mud and hide in tree roots, if it can beat the predator, it can beat them.

their top speed in ideal conditions is around 140mph, less if there is a head wind, and at top speed they don't last long on fuel. If you got on a fast motorway and had a car capable of 200mph or so you could out run one quite easily i'd imagine.

Wouldn't; they have thermocams don't they? You'd show up much redder than other shoppers because they're not worrying about running from the police with a big cold cash box hoping the police don't see through your mingling plan.

You've asked your question, now let me ask one:

Why?!

I have my whole Police Camera Action route planned... one day I will be a 'star' laugh

Mainly involving lots of vehicle changes AND as you say... large undercover enclosed spaces.

'Copter can 'only' stay in the air for a few hours and technically it is slower than some cars if you had a run on it enough to get out of your car and change to another.

Blind spots behind large buildings etc as well. Oh and of course the large Block of Flats... can't see meeee! biggrin

Have I thought about this too much!

I was watching one of those prgrams when they lost someone, seems they staid in a location long enough to heat up what they were hiding in so the coppers thought they were still there, so, piss on a bush & sneek away? smile

They have to apply for access to cross flight paths at airports etc. so guess that would explain that

mountain rescue do, not sure about the lighter police helicopters though. A decent thunder storm would back them off.

Wasn't there a pair of chavs who succeeded by driving into a lake on a cold night and swimming to the other side?

I have always thought this too. Its the only place you could reasonably dump the car without getting visually I.D'd on chopper cam. trees just don't help never enough cars to get into.... Multistory or underground car park. As soon as a choppers on you, its maximum speed the most direct route to the nearest car park. The rozzers will hang back (or thats what they do on 'police-death-stop!') And this gives you the time to bail.

I always thought getting a hair cut and shave in a shopping centre that might be attached to the multistorey as a good idea, followed by shopping..... Oh and unless you can carry the loot you should leave it, or stash it someone..... perhaps have accomplace ready to take you away?

I must say though although these flights of fancy might have run through my mind i would never condone this from anyone but you mind does wonder sometimes when you see these idiots on TV............

EDIT

AIRPORTS! BLOODY BRILLANT! No fly zones and all.....

make a run for some woods, where you have pre planted a large pane of glass with sucker handles attached, lift said pane over your head, et voila. No heat signature from above.

Hmmm... my bank raid plan could still be on....

Equip your robbers with suitable shoes, studded tyres on getaway vehicle, and do the job! The coppers on foot wouldn't get near you due to falling over, their cars would be useless against your scandinvian-themed transit, plus the choppers would not be able to fly! Right, off to the van centre....

you could buy a faster helicopter or some sort of jet aircraft. One that has big guns. Or a laser.

Yeah, a laser. That would be cool.

cool

Right, let me get this straight. Next time I am fleeing the law in a stolen car with a bag of cash I have to pull over purchase a big spotlight find somewhere to wire it up.
And then what?
Point it at the helicopter ?
LIke a double bluff where the pilots think "hmmm theres no way he would be weird enough to wire up a spotlight while we are chasing him and point it at us thus pinpointing his position exactly thus it can't be him"

I dont get it.
