Simple to evade them really as the ones around my way are tiny.

Hypothetically speaking... What is the best way to evade a Police Helicopter?

My best guess is to head into a large multi-storey car park then dump the car and hide in amongst the shoppers? However not sure that would work if you have to carry large Securicor cash box with you.

Any idea's welcome.
Shoot it down?

There was a clip on Police camera action a while back.

Basically it was a GSXR1000 out running all the police cars... In fact they were no where to be soon and could not keep up.

The helicopter was basically directing the cars onto the bike, but when asked for a speed by the ground units, the copter man could only say.. i have no idea.. but he is going faster than me! smilesmile

He just parked his bike up and home and grabbed a tea... he got caught...

But it was one way to get away! smile

One problem with the MSCP idea is traffic and the barrier. Not sure how hefty those barriers are, but I'd want to ensure I reinforced the windscreen somewhat, otherwise such a simple thing could be your demise. Like that tank that got stolen in America, but eventually got beached on a kerb! And, if there is a queue of traffic going into said CP, might not be able to barge your way through.

Bluewater wouldn't be too bad. A couple of entry/exit roads, links to three major motorways, and several MSCPs each with a couple of entries and exits...

I reckon the only thing you can do with a helicopter realistically is to run it out of fuel. Once its gone, the most effective method of losing the cops is knowing the whereabouts of some back lanes that police cars can't fit down, or maybe, having a dead end where you have enough time to dump the car, get across a bridge/obstacle and get into a waiting car.

I think the best way is to avoid it in the first place. Have a high powered, but discreet audi or Q car ala Ronin, and have a st hot driver and a planned route that the driver knows inside out. Have some skivvys at predetermined points along the route to lay down oil, tacks/stingers to take the cars down as they will be the ones who relay your postion to the chopper. Have a waypoint that must be reached undercover for a car change for the felons, and a 2nd car (with a trusted driver!) to take the loot in a different direction and rendezvous once the heat has died down.

Thats how i would do it anyway biggrin

How fast are police helicopters? I reckon an RS6 at 4am on the M1 could outrun some of them. If not then at full chat it would probably empty its fuel tank faster than the car.
A lot of police use the Eurocopter EC135. It's speed is a little below 160mph and a range of just under 400miles.
Would an RS6 go that far assuming you are driving well over the ton? Bearing in mind a helicopter doesn't do hills or bends, just as the crow flies straight lines.

Terminal 5 passenger drop off as it's quite easy to get to, fewer cameras than the car park plus lots of people who don't know what they are doing milling around, leave the car enter the terminal, straight on to tube to Terminal 1 and hire another car.
The police will be looking for someone making a quick escape and not for anyone who takes the time in a different terminal to hire a car.

Easiest way to escape it, is not get spotted by it.
Distract the choppers attention, with a fake 99 call. Armed robbery somewhere the other side of the county should do. Bear in mind that most forces have their own choppers now, so don't do your blag too close to a neighbouring chopper. Once an assistant has confirmed that the chopper is away, make your move. In & out nice and quick, and into something sporty. Change vehicles within 2 minutes, better yet, change into multiple cars/vans/bikes. Dump your booty as quickly as possible. With enough assistants, it shouldn't be hard. Make sure that all your players have a bona fide reason to be in the area ie, If they stop two of your guys in a plumbers van, they would have been going to pick up some gear nearby.
The clincher is not getting spotted by the chopper. Using calthrops (tyre spikes) on any following car is easy enough, and should buy you a couple of minutes. Driving like a prick is going to make you stick out, so don't unless you have to. Might even be an idea to get several accomplices in identical vehicles (barring number plates), to be in the area with genuine reason as well.
The more people involved, the more likely that the fuzz will lean on one of them to grass you up.

Not easy, but then nothing worthwhile is.............

With any dumped car, there is going to be DNA traces, but this will only works if they had your DNA record already and this would not connect with any credit card or driving licence (yet!!)

Cameras I grant you may be a problem but thats why I chose the passenger drop off rather than the car park, the car park takes your picture when you enter.

if you hire a car there they will need your driving license with photo id, paper copy, and I think they need a credit card deposit too so going to be tricky to avoid an obvious trail. Still say the sub car is the best one stop solution.

Hide in an estate agents. No-one even thinks of going in there.
The tube would be a good way to avoid a helicopetr but they hev their own cameras everywhere

Don't forget to switch your mobile off. The networks do about 1000 cell-id look ups a day for the police.

If in London, dump the car at any number of underground stations, preferably with more than one line going through it, and jump on the first train that comes in.

RIGHT!

Sussed it!

We're looking at this all wrong.

What's the issue? The helicopter evasion correct?

So for the escape to work, taking the helicopter out of the equation is surely the easiest option.

I'm not talking GA missiles, just simple stuff, like sabotage, or tying up the pilots prior to the heist.

Easy.

There are 3 thing the Helicopter cannot deal with.

1, A deep wooded area, even with a heat sensor the heli cannot penetrate the woods and see where you are going.

2 Drive into a Airport zone where they will not get permission to fly. Even if they do get conformation to fly around the airport they will have to be in a holding persistion and loss allot of time.

3 Dump the car outside a block of flat and run inside. There allot of nocking to do with 200 people living in the same place.
