High Beech (Epping New Road) - 'The Robin Hood' - Excellent, inexpensive Thai food in pub on roundabout. Pros: Thai food, staff, good for walkers using Epping forest. Cons: No public transport links, (rarely >>>) local Essex tradesmen, stopping off for lager before drink-driving home; each accompanied by sunburn and mannerless throaty-laughs that scare women and children.

Benfleet, next door to Hoy and helmet Pub - The Fish Market - Grey Ghost (but very cramped inside - rich1231), (Revisited 13/12/08 and not that good any more. Poor service, smaller portions sizes and higher prices. Took 50 minutes to get starters, and then less than 3 mins after completing these the mains arrived follwed by a 35 minute wait for desert and coffee) - Suggest it is avoided until anyone else visits and has a good experience.

Shanklin, Morgan's - Stunning food, very reasonably priced, superb service and nice decor. Portions that don't leave you hungry, which is nice!
