Reportedly "mothballed" due to change of contractor and delays getting the correct items needed/rebuilt for restoration. I would think spare parts are scarce and engines take a bit of time to rebuild.

If anything is a lifetimes work this could be classed as that smile

The owner seems to have many other projects on the go....Donington Park race track, Formula 1 Museum, Military stuff like tanks and Trucks, Muscle cars, Bikes etc. I would think he is quite busy.

I did not realise the S100 web site was down, sad that as I was following the work.

"On 10 April 1978, while engaged in exercise RIMPAC 78 a United States Navy Sea King helicopter operating off the Canadian tanker HMCS Provider (AOR 508) made a ‘mayday’ call because of a low fuel state.
Despite being tasked with remaining with the main body, HMNZS Waikato proceeded at best speed in the direction of the distressed helicopter. Contact with the aircraft was made and the pilot Lieutenant Commander James Bateman was informed that Waikato was prepared to accept it onboard if he so wished.
The pilot opted to attempt to land-on, despite the less than calm sea conditions and the relatively small flight deck for the big helicopter. His only other option was to ditch in the sea, which would almost certainly have led to loss of life. In a skilful piece of flying the helicopter landed on board with less than 30 seconds fuel remaining.
The Commanding Officer of HMNZS Waikato, Ian Bradley, was cautioned by the Naval Staff for his actions in putting the ship at risk from a serious accident For saving the crew and the aircraft the ship was given an award from the U.S. Navy."

Spot anything odd ?

The aft half of Sygna at Pickersgill's Quay in Sunderland - it was launched, 25th July 1967. Her fore half can be seen on the slipway to the left of centre not long before it's launch, 19th October 1967.
She was too big for Pickie's slipways so was built in halves and taken round to the Tyne to be joined together at Palmers Dry Dock in Hebburn. Earlier that year, Happy Dragon was built at the yard the same way.
Sygna ran aground on Stockton Beach off Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, 26th May 1974 and ended up as a total loss.

Agreed, brilliant picture, love the lack of PPE and the fact the jaws can go much bigger. I want to frame it and put up in the downstairs bog (the man's bog!). Where can I find the picture? I've tried copying the link from the post and failed miserably...

I'm not sure if there is a higher resolution version ( except perhaps in Sunderland Museum ) - I got it from this Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/pg/SunderlandTugs/photos/...

What's blue and smells like red paint...

The US Navy tested an experimental anti-fouling blue paint on some ship hulls several years ago
