I had a Yamaha 250 on the back of my RIB - it was a big engine and extremely quick. Why would you need a load of 400's?I am not a very nautical type, but wouldn't that be too much for most hulls to handle?
As long as the transom is structually sound enough to carry the weight then there is no problem. In some cases multiple smaller engines may be lighter than fewer bigger engines, and thats even before we get into prop loadings.

Did someone on PH just question the need for more power? I am not a very nautical type, but wouldn't that be too much for most hulls to handle?

Mr Bezos' (allegedly) newest toy, Yacht Support Vessel "Abeona", in Gibraltar....
$75m, if the internet is to be believed.
I wasn't sure about the design when I first saw it however I rather like her as she's a bit different from the usual billionaire playthings you see
There are a few of these Damens floating around as support boats. Nothing more than a helipad and toy storage as far as the boss is concerned, they will rarely spend any time on them. Occasionally used as overspill berths for the entourage and travelling staff.$75m, if the internet is to be believed.

Yup, yacht tenders.
I was on a course with a Captain of one the other day.
His boss like as few crew on the main yacht as possible, so helicopters across the necessary staff.
They have different chefs for different types of cuisine for instance.
This means the yacht tender becomes the party boat.
It is appalling excess frankly, as he freely admitted.
Their last big trip was to Antarctica to go ‘heli-skiing’.
