What do you think is the best looking jet ever made?
Discussion
I don't really care much for "favourite" or "best " type threads as they are totally subjective and end up with people just providing lists.
I prefer "interesting" to "best" anyway.
Here is one that always impressed me -

Fair point there eric, but surely if i had titled the thread 'which do you think is the most interesting' the result would still be a list?
I was just curious to see if there was a few planes that kept cropping up.
Old jets are- in my eyes- far better looking than the modern machinery, i wondered if the consensus is the same

I'm sorry but you can't surely be claiming that the Lightning is a good looking jet. Purposeful yes, but its brutishly ugly - after all it is just two engines with some small stubby things attached to help point the engines in the desired direction. pics removed to save space.
On the Vulcan we agree.

Like Eric said, these threads are always going to cause some disagreement because of their subjective nature.

Sorry, also the shooting star, and i think the McDonnell DOulglas xp 88- although stand corrected on that one!
I'll correct you. It was the McDonnell XF-88 Voodoo.
The old US Army designation for fighter aircraft was "P" for "Pursuit". Following the formation of the US Air Force in 1947, the "P" designation was changed to "F" (for "Fighter").
The F-88 requirement might very well have been set out prior to the formation of the USAF so would have been initially designated P-88, but by the time it flew, it was referred top as the F-88. It was never ordered into production but was the basis for the later F-101 Voodoo.
McDonnell took over Douglas in 1967.
