A few questions/thoughts.
Its a 140m yacht so probably a few Officers on the bridge "looking out" you are doing circa 18kts in close proximity to a reef. I imagine they would be checking the yachts position fairly frequently and monitoring it.
I imagine Serene has 4 steering pumps, now just throwing this out there if there was a propulsion failure how did it end up so far up a reef? the momentum being carried must be outrageous.
Surely the rudders could have been thrown hard over and a destroyer turn performed away from the reef?
Surely this yacht is built to Lloyds or similar classification and has emergency shut downs on the engines and will have performed crash stop tests during construction sea trials?
Has anybody seen exactly where this happened? is he just on the edge of the reef/deep water or in the middle of a reef with no deep water either side?
Draw your own conclusions but i bet a lot of people are going to be affected by the insurance claim.

It’s usual for the guys on the bridge to blame the engineers for everything but this time I don’t think they will have a leg to stand on.
Lloyds Classification and SOLAS (possibly passenger class) would provide enough redundancy for most failures.
Looks like she has quickly gone in to a shed at the Ames yard for repair
Agree with what you say though, doesn't take Einstein to work this out.
Hows Germany by the way?

Anyone know how they got it off the reef?
Weighted the stern / lifted the bow / both?
Or just dragged it off (forwards or backwards?)
The last option sounds painful and expensive. Once when I was a lot younger I managed to wedge my car up against a metal bollard I hadn't seen. After getting out and looking, I realised whatever way I moved the car was just going to cause more damage unless I was somehow able to magically pick the car up and move it which wasn't going to happen.Weighted the stern / lifted the bow / both?
Or just dragged it off (forwards or backwards?)
So I got in the car, took a guess, gritted my teeth and stuck it in reverse, SCCCCRRAAAPPPE!!
Now imagine that times 1000 on a super yacht.

Sadly no photos as I took my mountain bike down and didn’t trust the phone not to fall out of my pocket. I really wish I’d taken it as when I drove down later it had set sail elsewhere.
There was a rather flimsily dressed young lady doing a photo shoot first thing followed by lots of paragliding and jetski fun.

Is that not just a project name? The one I Emma posted a few photos of was called White Pearl in build stage as quoted by someone else on here, but is now simply AJust a shame it's called Black Pearl.
I am also well aware that the new owner probably doesn't place much weight in my opinion

There is nothing wrong with the name 'Black Pearl' as that has been a yacht name long before the movies came out.
