Without doubt (imho) way way more classy than any modern superyacht.

Their form, poise, elegance - all via sail. Of course hardly practical, but still utterly beautiful.

That spinnaker pole... You’d need 3 bow men just to get on the mast laugh

A modern, all carbon, 100fter would be cheaper, faster, easier to sail and have better accommodation... but that’s a bit like comparing a 458 to a 250GTO.

Why most modern big boats don’t bother with spinnakers... an A sail is much easier to sail with and for the crew to manage... 5 guys to get the pole down and stowed laugh

Working on the foredeck with a spinnaker and harnesses not clipped on!

No guard rails On J’s, and crew aren’t wearing life jackets either.

But they’ll have at least one or two chase boats (big ribs) at all times for racing and training. Plus J’s generally have other boats following them most of the time given how rare and beautiful they are.

I only wear a jacket and clip on when working foredeck at night, or in very heavy weather.

I would prefer to be picked up by the RIB than dragged underneath a J at 12 knots that's for sure.

If you mean the guy who went up to spike the kite, he's got a harness that he clips on to the downhaul before he goes up.
