When I was at college I went out with a girl who’s dad had a 42 ft Princess with twin Penta V8’s.
Happy days, Chichester to the Isle of Wight in 10 mins or so. Lovely stuff. Should never have broken up with her......
Stunning Speculatore! Would be great to know what kind of overheads it costs to run one of these beasts but understand people being private about it.
I’d love a nice boat, but alas unless my numbers come up, t’is but a dream.

I've just spent the last hour of my day trawling (no pun intended!) through this thread agog, I say, agog at the content.
I have little or no interest in super yachts although I did go down to Bristol's Harbourside a few years back when Mogambo parked/docked/berthed there and was amazed at its beauty. However I'd like to say thanks to all of you that know what you're talking about for bringing a little knowledge to a heathen like me that would otherwise be ignorant of it all.

She isn't worth £60m but it is all relative....... I am not a billionaire. At over 24 meters she is officially a Superyacht. (And certainley a money pit). The good news is we have just had our first charter 'Staycation' booking for the summer.
Do you supply a skipper? Where will the boat likely be going?
Would be cool if you started a thread detailing the refit etc.

Yeah, but if you are an Instagram influencer (or a group of 12 of them), think of the ROI you'll get on bikini shots taken on that deck. Just make sure Fawley power station isn't in the background

Boating isn't cheap. It's 7k in vat, crew costs, 3-4k, food and drinks 4k, fuel could be as much as 5k, cleaning before and after, laundering 4k, insurance.....£40k would need to be beer money for me in that instance.
i doubt there is more than 12-14k net left after you add it all up.

Plus cost of capital for the thick end of a million quid, depreciation, maintenance and so on. Hence the question above about whether it's a viable business proposition or a smart way to reduce the cost of one's own hobby. It used to be de rigeur to own a boat like that through a Guernsey charter company for the VAT savings alone, but I think all that is much harder these days.i doubt there is more than 12-14k net left after you add it all up.

My 30ft Sportfisher had twin petrol outboards (verado) and used 180L/hr when shifting. Every 100 hours it needed a service which was $3k. Storage in a dry stack was 1.5k per month, insurance, cleaning every month. Ruinous BOAT - Bring On Another Thousand

General rule of thumb is that any boat costs roughly 10% of its value per annum to maintain - if you had two week stay-cation on the Sunseeker I’d imagine you’d still be saving money, hassle free. £40k would need to be beer money for me in that instance.
