Well, that's one of the strangest things I've seen for a while!
They did bolt two mustangs (??) together but not sure they put a jet underneath.....

Edit. Found it. North American XF-82 and NASA used it for Ramjet tests.

Probably got something wrong.

Being pedantic, I would expect that the F-82 would have been operated by the NACA rather than NASA.

One of my modelling goals is to build a couple of NACA Mustangs. I have kits of an F-82 and a P-51H set aside for just such a project.

Will they always land in that manner on a runway, or can they do an orthodox landing also?

Just seen this link to some video of the support Voyager tankers arriving and departing Gander.

I guess after last year's escapade with the Air National Guard, they went for something wider than a road...

The newly built Draco Turbine coming in for a very slow landing (and a pretty much vertical takeoff) - if there weren't cars in the background I'd have said they slowed down the video for the landing : )

The guy who created the aircraft did a build series, probably the definition of an aircraft enthusiast!

He did an interview on his backstory here - http://www.pt6nation.com/en/articles/article/never...

It's based on the PZL Wilga - with teh original air cooled radial piston engine replaced by a turbine.

The Wilga was designed over 50 years ago with slow flying as one of its characteristics.

Despite all that, slow flying in a Wilga can still catch you out. I attended an airshow in Ireland in 1984 where three Polish registered Wilgas took part. They flew a slow flying demonstration during which one of the Wilgas stalled and spun in, killing the pilot.

A few videos as it's a channel, not sure how many of you have seen the Flightchops channel on youtube. Flies and flies on many interesting aircraft, flying a DC-3 out of Oshkosh at Airventure last year, flying along on the B-29 Fifi and his eventual solo on a T-6 3 weeks ago so that he will be able to fly warbirds like his grandfather who was a Spitfire pilot during the war with 421 Sq RCAF. Jet on boards too. Good Go-pro coverage.

https://www.youtube.com/user/FlightChops/videos?di...

The DC-3 flight and landing at Oshkosh shows just how busy it is airshow time.

So this was another interview with the builder. Apparently a modern version called the Wilga 2000 (only 24?) built.

Talks more about the amazing performance - I was supposed to go to oshkosh this weekend : /
