Just missed the end of the war, first in service with No 60 Sqn RAF in the far east. In action during the Malayan Emergency.

What's the twin engined white aeroplane seen in the background? Looks like Gypsy Major engines (or similar?). I'm struggling to identify it...

It.s either an Aero 45 or an Aero 145 - a Czech built light twin. I remember seeing a couple of them back in the 1970s. There were a few on the UK register -

I saw G-ATBH at Dublin in 1974 or 1975.

I also remember seeing this one.

They were quirky looking things. I've even seen a picture of one disguised as a Heinkel He111 smile
