Some interesting discussion on the accident here, maybe not always best to post a vid so soon after!

I've seen a C17 reverse under it's own power, and I've been on a Jetstream that did it, but I've never seen a fighter do it before

A Tornado pilot once told me how they bemused some USAF ground handlers by reversing into their parking spaces when on a joint exercise once smile
No doubt followed by a double engine change!

Ouch. From the video it certainly looks as if the magneto switch was in the Off position throughout the flight. I've known cases in fixed wing aircraft where the engine has fired when the prop was being pulled through due to a faulty magneto switch, but never where the faulty switch led to someone getting airborne with it in the Off position - we live and learn.

A brief Google seems to show that in earlier R44s the magneto switch in the 1 o'clock position was "Both", whereas in the later models the 1 o'clock position is 'Off', so maybe the combination of faulty magneto wiring plus muscle memory of the earlier version in the mag checks?

Looks like those lightweight jigsaw type floor mats you can put down in your garage. biggrin

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garage-Floor-Tile/s?k=Gar...

Although more likely the matting you normally walk on around the tents and displays at events like the Goodwood FoS when the ground has been a bit wet.
