There's a video of it too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBfqiKukVps
They pushed a buccaneer off an aircraft carrier to make a safety film about avoiding aircraft falling into the sea? There's a video of it too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBfqiKukVps
Presumably it was also used for training ie the recovering the aircraft itself etc?

It's a surprisingly smiley face for something that had the potential to be, to quote Robert Oppenheimer, "the destroyer of worlds".
O/TOppenheimer was just repeating a passage from the Hindu text Bhagavad-Gita or 'The song of God' the full quote said by Vishnu to the Prince is...
'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds'

I would be fascinated to know what the likes of Oppenheimer genuinely felt about what they had created- the weapon to end the war with Japan, and with it the worst war the world had seen, or the "Now I am become death...." i.e. what the hell have we unleashed on the world?

It is exhaustive in its detail, it goes back to the early 1900s and covers everything, absolutely everything.
After the Los Alamos scientists built the first bombs some of them tried to persuade the US Govt not to use it in anger!

oof. Hits the big emotional button when I see/hear that every time. Many years ago, I went to the Flying Proms at Duxford. The Spitfire flew about to the RAF March. Then came the Lancaster to the Dambusters theme. Real hairs on the back of the neck, "must be something in my eyes" stuff.
I take the odd Aeroplane picture. This one was from Duxford a couple of weeks ago.
