They didn't fly them for long as the Phantom was considered a bit heavy and fuel hungry for team demonstration purposes.

Yes - 5 years, though in its last year in 1973 they only flew 6 displays due to the fuel crisis. They switched to the T-38 in '74

I remember when it happened but couldn't recall if it happened before or after they switched to the T-38s.
