Any Paramotor Heads on here?
Discussion
Hey guys,
Been looking into paramotoring for the last week or so and was wondering if anyone on here has done/does it?
Just looking for simple advice, recommendations etc
Will definatly be taking lessons etc, I'v heard a license is "recommended?!"
Im a hands on kind of guy so will no doubt be built over time, with bits and bobs of ebay, after all the relevant research etc, won't be cutting corners when it comes to flying!
Thanks in advance

i would look into powered hangliding rather than paramotoring.
i went to see a fly in of paramators (some real nice helpful people there) but when compairing to powered hang gliders i think the hang gliders offer more practicality.
neither require a licence but you would need some proper training which comes in at about a grand for either.
http://www.paramotorclub.org/ is a goof forum.

Been looking into them last couple of days, think ill have to have a go on a few different things....oh well . I'd seen them but nothing more, my intitial thoughts were that they would be a bit more "twitchy" than a paramotor? (sorry for terrible terminology) After watchin a few videos this dosen't seem to be the case, they seem a bit quicker too.i went to see a fly in of paramators (some real nice helpful people there) but when compairing to powered hang gliders i think the hang gliders offer more practicality.

The thought of being able to fly amazes and terrifies me in equal measure but it all looks pretty simple and intuative. Also, its only recently I realised how affordable and usable some of the powered gliding stuff was.
Still after recommendations for any training/tryout days if anyone can help?
That forum is the spot on and is no doubts where I should have asked this question
Have a look at my replies (JENKOTVR) to this tread...can't recommend it enough

I'm mad for paramotoring, the kit fits in my boot and if I finish work early I nip to a field to have a quick zoom round the countryside and my favourite is to watch the sunset from altitude.
I can reccomend Simon Westmore who runs a training school at Membury just off the M4 and he says just pop along for a day to see what it's all about, try on a motor and get a feel for the freedom that the sport offers......he's on http://www.paramotorclub.org/ forum
Edited to say definately don't need a license, just good training.
Photo I took at 3000ft over Guildford

Its amazing! I can't believe you can FLY for so little money/effort. The ability to see a pukka sunset/sunrise is a big bonus for me also, I live in Cambridge and its flat as anything round 'ere! Dan_The_Man said:

Cheers for the info, but as I said im in Cambridge so a bit far away...well, I hope there's one closer! That is obviously something to ask about on the paramotor forum. Definatly going to have a single day first, I might hate it! lolThat picture is amazing, before I started researching paramotoring, the thought of doing that would scare me to death! Now im just jealous

In terms of money, just think of it as a motorbike with wings, once you have the kit just factor in optional £60 per year 3rd party insurance, up to 10 litres of fuel per flight, occasional repairs and servicing.
glad you like the photos, have a few more:
Chasing a hot air balloon in Sussex.
Chilling out over the North Downs, I love big skies.
Highest I have been so far, gets a tad chilly that high but ace views.
